I just lost a 160dps rare bow because I thought i was salvaging a lower level bow, so it plucked this one right out of my archers hands and salvaged it when I hit the button without realizing it.

Is there any functionality to protect us from our own stupidity like a LOCK function or maybe making it so when its equipped you can't sell it?!

I find that after you accidentally salvage a really nice weapon, you never have to worry about it again.  You'll be so damn paranoid that you'll check 5 times before confirming the salvage attempt.

Also, not currently, no.

My partner did exactly the same thing when he started playing on my necromancer, he salvaged the staff I had made for it :/ It be nice to have a 'lock' feature.

Gear that is equipped should be locked automatically IMO, and there should be a lock function for other gear.

If you pay an infinitesimally small amount of attention to what you're doing, it doesn't happen. When it gives the "Are you sure you want to salvage" prompt, actually double check it instead of brainlessly hitting OK.

Not a good idea per se. If you lock a staff because it's equipped on your 6 mages, you'll need to load each one of those to check on which one it's used and remove it. You might have to do it as much times as you have mages. Now imagine that nice ring on all your characters...

On the other hand, marking an item as "important" could ask to confirm twice before salvaging it. Still, it's not solving anything as you can salvage it by accident anyway. In the end, if you're not paying attention or do something you don't understand without asking questions first, you'll pay the price. It's not anything different from real life...
