"Tactical" means what, exactly?
Conceptual action implemented as one or more specific tasks.

They lied. Its not like DAO. Its much closer to DA2.
Its a good game but its not what they advertised, so that might ****** you off. It did me. Definitely don't buy it for the PC unless you enjoy using a gamepad for PC games, because the KB+Mouse interface is dogshit.
To me it feels like a cross between Skyrim, GTA and the Dragon Age setting and typical Bioware characters/conversation options. Very single player MMO feeling.
But not at all tactical, unless you really micro your party. NPCs won't hold positions, they waste abilities and the tactics routines from DAO have been severely nerfed. The tac cam is also gimped with a ridiculous zoom out range so you can not actually use it to get a picture of the entire battlefield. Most times you can't even zoom out far enough to see your whole party.

DAO
If you're gonna start threads, shouldn't you start them about stuff you can actually discuss rationally?

I'm going to point out that many people who considered DAO tactical did so because of the micromanagement.

I cannot say, i have not tested yet nightmare difficult, but normal seems exactly the same as DAO's normal: Tactics just matters in key battles, else is just one sided on your favor

the problem is the tactical cam is a cluster.. so playing tactically is not fun. if they would have kept the same control scheme from previous games and just added the info they did.. the game would be stellar. too bad that didnt happen.

Yes but there was also an entire tactics section of the menu that allowed you to program tactics into the characters. I'm told this has been severely reduced.

It wasn't severely reduced, it is practically non existent.
Its pissing me off cause my ranged think they are melee and stand next to dragons and such.

Compared to the original DA, tactics are basically non-existant. You can charge face first in to a fight and win 90% of the time, even on hard. You couldn't do that in DA:O, it needed actual planning.
Also the whole "tactical" interface is pretty clumsy, I tend not to use it at all.

Pretty sure I didn't bother with planning in DAO after level 9 or so, particularly on a dual wielder or mage.
On nightmare.
Of course after Combat Tweaks things changed. Scattershot spam deaths OP.

Not me, at least once Advanced Tactics Mod came out, then I rarely had to micromanage.

DAO could be autopiloted with that mod. I don't think that's the direction BioWare wants to take and I'm glad they went this route.
Don't get me wrong though, it had its uses and its fans.

You know... it's not exactly fair to compare a game working with a mod to a game that isn't right? Tatically speaking, the vanilla version of Origins required its fair share of micromanagement.

DAO was all about face rolling every encounter without thought on nightmare. The only challenge in that game came from crap builds.

Sure? My point is that saying that DAI requires micromanagement doesn't make it not-tactical.
