So I installed Mass Effect 2 and had to reformat and saved the saves on a flash drive and then after reinstalling windows and installing mass effect 2 again, I put them back in My Documents. When I load Mass Effect 2 and go to "load save". they are there but they are all Timestamps say "00:00:00" and when I click load it just does nothing... What could be wrong?

Did you put the saves back in the correct spot?

(default for windows xp is)

C:\\Documents and Settings\\"your computer name here"\\My Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect 2\\Save

Make sure your saves are in their own folder with it's unique name. (ex Rachel_12_Soldier_250110)

Also right click on the saves themselves and make sure the "write protected" box is NOT checked.

Tbh though, given the game only got released today you likely didn't have more then an hour or two of play time logged before you had to reinstall so it may be simpler to just start over then spend two hours trying to get the saves to load.

You mentioned you had to buy a new hard drive? If it was because your old one was malfunctioning the save data you backed up could have already been corrupted. Now that I think about it you must be putting them in the correct spots if they show up in the game, but the 0.:00 time sounds like data corruption,

One trick to try is start a new game (with the same char name) and save it, then exit and go into the documents folder and swap the saves around and see if that helps?

No I just wanted to reformat because I had a driver issue that couldn't be resolved easily.

Ill try the save thing. Let me know if you can think of anything else...

I had a bunch of ME1 saves on an older computer and wanted to transfer to my new computer. I did the following

- copied the entire contents of My Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect folder from old PC

- installed ME1 on my new PC

- installed BDtS and the 1.02 patch (since that is what my old computer had)

- backed up the My Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect folder on new PC

- pasted and replaced the contents of My Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect on new PC (Windows 7 64-bit) with the contents from old PC

I only played the game long enough to make sure it was working and so far so good. My saves are all properly dated. Not sure if this will help or not since it sounds like you may no longer be able to get that entire folder. Only issue I had was with getting the 1920x1200 resolution working. The config tool kept crashing up until I installed the 1.2 patch.

well nothing has worked I also noticed that in the part where you pick your career it just says Shepard instead it used to say Shawn Shepard. I guess Im just screwed. Just seems like this is a problem that needs to be corrected with a patch in the future.
