Well, after 20 hours of playing DAI, I must say I agree: DAO was and will stay the best. DAI is obviously far better than DA2 (even with its awful PC controls, to be fixed soon hopefully), but it does not have the magic of DAO, which I miss and want to go back to everyday. DAI is something like a Skyrim adaptation to the DA world, entertaining but not to be remembered forever like the two best RPGs so far: Baldur's Gate and Dragon Age Origins.

20 hours in, I'm assuming you haven't finished the game then.  Anyone complaining that Bioware stole Oblivion's story, or that the game isn't memorable, clearly have not finished the story.  If you ask me, DAI's story is the most memorable of all, and left more of an emotional impact than any previous DA game to date.

People need to stop reviewing games they don't play, and play them instead.

Eh, I find DAO and DAI on par, both have the same issues(and their own issues) DAO had the good graces of being moddable thus the issues that where there could be fixed, sadly DAI does not have this luxury.

I found the story to be completely uninspired, with a weak villain and a weak main cast.

It's only redeeming quality were Morrigan and two scenes of Flemeth.

DA:O story ran much deeper and it was basically about politics, with the archdemon as the plot device to drive it all forward.

In DA:I, the plot device (Cory) IS the story, which I found really ordinary.

I've just played through DA:I twice, about 90 hours in total.

And I'm replaying DA:O now...

Despite how silly the graphics are and character movements are compared to DA:I, the actual story, character, roleplaying elements, world, atmosphere, etc...

It's like comparing The Wire to CSI:Miami.

One is a master piece. The other a pleasant romp for a night or two, but other than it being wrapped up in a pretty wrapping, very ordinary and forgettable.

It has basically zero emotional impact on me, and the singing after the escape from Haven felt completely contrived and utterly ridiculous.

The counterpart from DA:O, cut scene before the battle of Ostagar and subsequently Duncan dying after lighting the signal...?

Now, THAT was fantastically done.

In the end, how you felt about the story is subjective.

I never identified with the Inquisition and it all seemed shallow and forced and artificial.

DAI is a great improvement on DA2 , that's good enough for me, I honestly don't expect Bioware to make another game like DAO ever again now that they are under EA's rule, it saddens me to say this , but it's time to move on.

l only needed 5 mins to know it was a WoW clone.

That's impossible. DAI plays exactly like a Bioware game until the Hinterlands. **edit**

DA:I doesn't play like a Bioware game at all.
