Why are there 3 zones in the Western Approach?

There is a lot of variety in the the rest of the zones but then you have these 3 in the Western Approach that are all pretty similar. I love them and they are a lot fun to explore but I could've been satisfied with just one large zone and had 2 dedicated to the other parts of Orlais we have not seen. There's the large marshy region in central Orlais, or even the Heartlands around Val Royeaux and Lake Celestine that we haven't seen. Arbor Wilds could've been made into a full fledged explorable zone for end game as well but instead it's just there for one story mission.

I just think that instead of putting resources into making another 2 desert areas they could've spread it out more because all the Orlesian zones we've seen are in southern Orlais, and it's quite a big country.

P.S: Why is the Hissing Wastes also set at night time? Day/night cycle could've been nice so I could see more in that big open zone.
