Ok. I am in Hinterlads, wander around and got myself into trouble with 3 Templars.

When I almost finished fighting them 3 Bandits came over but thankfully were attacked by a bear so they didn't join out fight.

I had to handle the Bear/Bandits situation anyway so I joined bears struggle against bandits and then killed bear at the end.

I was so happy cause I had to fight opponents 3 or 4 lvls higher that my party and couldn't wait to loot the chest that was waiting for me.

 

Imagine my surprise and disappointment when the chest vanished when I approached it.

Working as intended.

 

It is a tactical decision if you go after the loot during a fight or commit everything to defeating the enemy. It is a choice for the player to make. Disappearing chest is a part of the ever changing Dragon Age world.

My fault. That chest had a drop that I really needed, so I ninjaed it while you were fighting. I had been waiting for that chest to re spawn for several hours.

Cosmic justice at work. You flagrantly kill steal from bandits, you deserved it.

Never had a chest disappear on me yet. But half the time while my companions are hacking and slashing, I'll be picking up loot.

I constantly see bears attacking other NPC's or Mabari chasing goats
