I'm not going to chase every possible "X approves" message, but if there's consequences to making people hate me, I'd like to know.
How important is it to max out companions' approval?

I'm not going to chase every possible "X approves" message, but if there's consequences to making people hate me, I'd like to know.
They can leave you, but you have to be trying to make them hate you. Brown nosing every companion isn't the best route to go, especially if you want a specific person as your new divine, or want a specific outcome for a character. Disapproval isn't the end of the world, especially when you can essentially farm it by doing one of their 2 quests.
