Freddie Prinze, Jr. did a great Vega, but his Iron Bull is straight up awful, IMO

I just can't see a qunari with that voice. I never bother to recruit him, don't think I ever will. I like FPJ, and Vega, but just can't take him seriously as a Qunari. Don't even get me started on Bull's Harry The Hunter head.

But you'll be missing out on Krem.....

I disagree, I think Bull's voice acting is great.

I agree so, so much.

First time Bull talked I was like "what the heck?!"

Going on only comparing him to Sten and the Arishok, Bull talks way too casually, way too much and his voice is just way too different, it doesn't fit a Qunari (or a Ben Hassrath or whatever, too many Qunari terms).

Also, Prinze goes back and forth between speaking naturally, like for Vega, and his Bull voice a lot.

I thought he sounded fine most of the time; my only gripe is that his voice switches from regular FPJ to gravely FPJ, like you said. I think this is more a problem of poor direction than FPJ's acting abilities. It's like they couldn't decide on what voice they wanted him to do.

Are you drunk? bull's voice suited him perfectly. It is like the maker himself chose the most sublime voice possible.

His accent is inconsistent. I like him as Bull but yeah.. I can't deny it. He's not good at changing his voice.

Iron Bull sounds like me trying to sound tough in middle school.

Everytime I hear him talk I can't help but think of a kid trying to do a grown up voice. It's just so offputting.

I'm fine with the voice, but I totally get what you mean by this.

Nothing's wrong with the voice per se , its the acting part lol , in the middle of one conversation the iron bull could have like 3 different accents which is a bit weird.

If he stuck to one of those accents the entire time it would be great, Mother's Giselle's VO also has struggles to maintain that french accent at times she sounds british.

It was weird At first but I got used to it.

Not every Qunari has to sound like they gargle with nails and broken glass.

He did an excellent job with Iron Bull, and Vega.

With Vega, was a typical Bro, the character personality wasnt deep. Thats the point, some people in real life are like that. I know plenty.

With Iron Bull, I thought he did a fine job, maybe its because I believe Bull was well written, but Prinze complemented the writing with a solid VO performance. Adding great nuance to his tone, and accent.

I truly believe that if you see the person behind the VO for large dialogue projects, like this, it tarnishes the experiance. Especially if the particular individual is somewhat famous for crap movies.

He does a good job. Iron Bull was well done.

He did an outstanding job as VA once again, but OP you're entitled to your opinion.

Just from the trailers, before playing the game, Iron Bull's voice did feel off.

But since playing and having Bull in my party for my whole first playthrough, I've grown to like it a lot, and can't imagine him sounding any different.

Prinze's grandpa voice that he uses for Bull sounds so unnatural to me. I can't help but feel that the character would have gotten more justice from a voice actor like Jamieson Price, maybe.

Funny, I said the exact same thing and I even suggested that exact voice actor as well. Only thing that differs, in my opinion, is that James Vega is a terrible character whereas I feel Iron Bull is less so.. I don't like him the same way I liked Sten or the Arishokthough.

Yeah I kinda agree with OP. I think if I didn't watch the video with FPJ showing of the character I wouldn't notice as much. You definitely get use to it the more you play though. I guess we are all just so use to qunari being serious and having deep voices but Bull is not a serious guy a lot of the time. It even took me awhile to get use to the American voice on the qunari inquisitor considering I play him as a diplomatic mage. Expectations lol. But either way Bull is still a good character, all that matters to me.

At first I was very upset with the Voice work, but then as I started to have him along for more missions and got to hear more banter with him I cannot imagine anyone else doing the voice work.

He murders the comedy and sarcasm, but I also feel it when he is more serious.

The chemistry in the dialogue between him and Sera is great.

On his appearance alone they could have gone a much different route and made him a gruff and blunt hard ass that doesn't take crap from anyone. Yet with Freddie they took the character in the opposite direction making him feel like one of the most trustworthy companions you have.

He will never lie to you or hold back his opinion and at the same time he will give you advice and encouragement when you seek it.

Freddie's voice fits that perfectly in my opinion.

I dislike the character more than the voice. He was quite the bench-warmer.

He does very okay if you build him properly.

Aw, I like him! Which is funny because I've always loathed Prinze, Jr. onscreen.

Same here, had to convince me; he did.

Hated Vega as a character, whereas Iron Bull actually had some depth to him. Put him and Solas in a party and you'll get some of the best party banters in the game, especially after you finish Iron Bull's personal quest.  Legitimately got scared a BG2 was going to happen and they were gonna try to kill each other at one point.
