What happens if you romance several characters?

The romance in this game isn't what I'd consider "clearly defined" as in past games. In Mass Effect you just talked a lot until they started flirting with you, and in Dragon Age Origins you just fed them gifts.

In this, you can select the romance option a few times before anything "intimate" happens, which I think is a lot more realistic. I've been selecting the option for both Cass and Jose, because I feel you learn more about a character by doing so, and the only progress I've made is with Jose judging by a conversation/cutscene. Nothing with Cass yet.

Avoiding spoilers, can anyone simply confirm whether or not there's a point where, after many "moments" with your possible lover, there comes a point where you're forced to choose? If so, do you see it coming? I'm a bit of a role-player and confrontations are something I try to avoid. xD

Yes, there's special type of dialogue wheel that appears during essential choices. You won't miss it.

It even says "commit to relationship" in the hint text.

It basically says "I'm not allowed to have sex with more than one person so I write characters that can't have sex with more than one person. I will enforce my reality upon all of you."

Not the heart icon then?

So the impression I'm getting is that I can continue to do heart icons to build up a relationship with both characters, until a time where I have to commit which is indicated differently?

I'm going for a bit of girl on girl action with Sera and she is cool with it. Cassandra no, Bull no, grey warden (bearded guy) yes.

Wait then is there no point in me going for Josephine if I want Sera? I'd prefer if Josephine was a party member but unfortunately she's not.

For a game that promotes homosexuality, the options for a lesbian are quite bad IMO.

It is the heart icon yes. But when the companion is ready to commit a tooltip will pop when you hover over the heart icon saying you will start a relationship with that companion. From then on the other companions will "aknowledge" your relationship and i think you can only engage in another relation if you break up with your current one. You will still be able to flirt with all of them, but if you get the icon saying you can now start a relationship with another, you will have to say you were just "goofing around" with the current love interest, which will probably lead to a cat fight and you having to decide who to stay with, breaking up with the other one for good. So if you want to romance more than 1, id sugest to do it one at a time :P Half the game with Josie, then break up with her and move on with Cassandra. (if you have the stomach to break up with sweet Josie :P)

I'm playing as a female mage, and I tried "flirting" with Blackwall.  He's such a kindly old warrior, but man, the whole thing just felt like I was trying to lead on some grizzled uncle who drinks too much at Thanksgiving.
