I would like to know if this game is supposed to have combat music or not, I don't mean in scripted events, but I mean in open world encounters - say a bunch of bandits attack you in the hinterlands - should there be music alongside this event?
I don't seem to get any combat music and want to know what is normal and what isn't for the more random events in the game.
Do you get combat music?

I get a couple seconds delayed if I just loaded the game. After 1-2 mins, it goes back to normal.

Only during major fight, like when doing a companion quest, otherwise I get no music.
Before I unlocked Val Royeaux, I always got combat music, now never.
@StElmo: The music is very bugged in this game, no background music in some cities, alot of players did not even know that Val Royeaux had a background music. I hope Bioware fixes this, because it can break my immersion.

Sometimes I have it, sometimes I don't. It's always there for important fights though. When I'm out exploring, doesn't always come, though that doesn't bother me all that much because I feel like having super epic music while I'm fighting wolves is a bit much

I prefer the music not playing as sometimes I've had the drums of skyhold. Which is very annoying

i get combat music when the game knows the battle will prob last awhile, IE giants/Dragons or main story, sure the devs didnt want big dramatic music coming in while slaughtering a nug hence you really dont get it outside the big fights and main story

Remember that super obnoxious soundtrack on one of the streams of skyhold? Sometimes wandering around it I get the drum soundtrack really loud

Huh, I thought they said that wasn't actually in the game? And I certainly haven't encountered it.
Maybe you're going insane?!

From what I've heard if you fast travel from the war table the drums will keep playing outside the war room, haven't experienced this myself though.

Okay so people are only getting combat music in scripted encounters like dungeon bosses and dragons and story quests and not just a random bandit group attacking you?

Some people do and others dont. I used to have combat music while fighting bandits, then one day I saved and quit the game. The next day I noticed no more combat music.
Its very odd and the worst part is, if you look at online videos of Bioware or game reviewers, they are experiencing the same issues, lack of zone music and no combat music. Makes me wonder, is this working as intended or a bug and nobody cares?
If only Bioware aknowledged and tells us what is going on.
