The environments of this game are gorgeous but without the familiar sites of the Imperium Highway and with a totally redesigned Redcliffe, it just doesn't seem like the Ferelden I know and love. I understand the need to redo the environments what with a new game engine and all but the Ferelden of Inquisition is literally a totally different world than from Origins. I am about 20 hours in and have explored most of hinterlands and some of Orlais and I just have to wonder, why remove the imperial highway? where did it go? And it really bugs me how as I said, Redcliffe is completely redesigned. Is anyone else bothered by this? Have I simply not seen enough of the game yet?
No familiar sites so far

Afcourse its different, we are what 10-15+ years ahead? I went back to the town where I used to live 8 years ago and the city has changed so much. I reckon its the same with Redcliffe and lets not forget they have recovered from the blight, so afcourse the city looks different now.
I would understand if the time gap between DA:O and DA:I was 1-5 years, but 10+ years is very logical for it to be different,

You barely saw anything of Ferelden... unless you count random rolling hills and a few small zones as all of Ferelden >.>

You mean you want to see the same repeated corridors over and over?

Ouch ![]()
Anyway, the OP has a point, somewhat. In games that take place in the same area/nation/whatever than it's predecessor, I myself do like to see familiar locations. For instance in Borderlands 2, it was super cool to visit a location from Borderlands 1, it brought back memories and gave the illusion that time has passed.
Then again, I there is Redcliffe in DA:I. There could be more, though. Denerim, for instance. Oh how I want to visit that place again. And no, I don't know if you actually can, I haven't finished the game yet ![]()

Borderlands 2 wasnt a substantial engine change though.

I just tell myself Connor used his magic to re-locate the town and castle.
