Update: This zone does not actually have unique scaling, it scales like any other zone, i.e. it has a minimum and a maximum scaling level. The minimum is 20, maximum currently unknown, most likely 23. This has no effect on the loot table though.

What this means is you can have access to this area as soon as you access Emprise Du Lion and you can have tier 3 schematics for the rest of your playthrough. Crafted items have no level requirement to equip, so for example if you come to Emprise Du Lion at 13 and unlock the Cradel of Sulevin, you'll have very good gear for the rest of your playthrough.

Better yet for t3 armor schematics go to hissing wastes, hell the tombs there have your masterwork weapons.

Can you use stealth to go to the keep in Emprise Du Lion, defeat the boss with conversation option, and unlock the T3 merchant there at low level?

It would be difficult. And if you do so you miss out on an agent.

Been seeing reports of The Still Ruins in the Western Approach working the same way as my video above, might be worth looking into!

Related question, has anyone seen a Masterwork armor schematic, or have they been just blue? I have not personally seen any masterwork armors, although the "rare" versions might be basically the same thing.

So, can you get any tier 3 schematic from this location? Just keep reloading until you get the one you want?

I got a masterwork Seer Cowl, but thats it.  Do we know how many staffs there are? I keep going through but haven't gotten a masterwork staff.

I have 3 tier 3 staff schematics; First Enchanter from vendor, Seer's Staff, and Archmage Staff. I believe there is 3 of everything. There's 3 Battlemage sets (Coat, Armor, Mail), I have 3 bows, and 3 greatswords. Not counting masterwork stuff of course.

I've been getting masterwork tier 3 upgrades, but no masterwork tier 3 weapons themselves. Got 1 blue medium armor that didn't say masterwork on it. And yes, all regular non-masterwork schematics should be found here, although cannot speak for schematics available from vendors, those might only be at vendors.

Hey Rylor, awesome seeing you here!

For armors, it seems like there are three tiers.

Tier 1: [Battlemage, Prowler, Battlemaster] [Coat, Armor, Mail]

Tier 2: Sturdy [Battlemage, Prowler, Battlemaster] [Coat, Armor, Mail]

Tier 3: Superior [Battlemage, Prowler, Battlemaster]  [Coat, Armor, Mail]  <--- this tier is orange and as you were saying, I agree that it's equivalent to the "masterwork" tier. I've found 3 of these so far.

Weapons come in 2 tiers, normal and orange. I've seen an orange 2H greatsword recipe. But out of all my farming, I've only seen 1 orange weapon schematic. The prefix, IIRC, wasn't superior or masterwork, but "edge" something? Are there any orange schematics for staves from the Hissing Wastes tombs?

Weapon mods come in 2 tiers, normal and orange. I've seen multiple orange schematics.

Armor mods, I've only seen normal tiers. Has anyone seen an orange armor mod schematic?

Hats, I've seen both normal and orange, so 2 tiers.

For weapon schematics I have a

    Tier 3 "Serpent's Edge" Axe
    Tier 3 "Anderfels Cleaver" Greataxe

for the 'not masterwork' blues and then

    Tier 3 "Masterwork Serrated Greatsword"
Tier 3 "Masterwork Dual Curved Blade"
    Tier 3 "Masterwork Spiked Longbow"

for masterworks. And none of those dropped while I was farming, I'm pretty sure most were from the tombs in the Wastes, maybe static? I've never seen anything more than regular armor mods for schematics, either.

wait what? i can get sturdy battlemaster coat? where? Yea the hissing wastes ones are static and thats why it makes that map a good one to go early.

Yes! You can get schematics for a Sturdy Battlemaster Coat. I got everything from farming the cradle.

Also, I just realized I used the word tier way too many times in my first post. Everything is under the the broader category of a "tier 3" schematic. So these are internal tiers within that broad overhead. Tiers within tiers. Dragon Age Inquisiception.

so this method therefore seems the best way to get t3 schematics early. since this area is always at minimum lvl 20 and has no mobs until we actually use the altar. Thanks added it to my next playthrough tips.

I am actually curious, if anyone paid attention:

Do you get duplicate schematic drops? Or does having a schematic in your inventory prevents it from dropping again?

This could be useful in trying to farm master crafted schematics by purchasing all the T3 vanilla schematics before attempting this.

Correct, duplicates do not show up. Vendor schematics might not be available from the drop list though. I'd have to do some tests, not at home atm.

Alright from what I can see, vendor schematics do not drop in the world. I'm getting Battlemaster/Battlemage/Prowler schematics, but only Mail/Coat variations. Armor variation is sold by a vendor. I have not confirmed this for weapons yet.

To save on the grind I got to emprise du lion as soon as possible, rushed my way to the map and gained access to the keep. From there, when ever I left a map, I'd always go back to it to look for schematics before continuing on.. think of it as a detour.. eliminates a lot of the grind feeling as you do a single run through on your way somewhere else.

Example Skyhold > Suledin > western approach to get the last logging stand > suledin > emerald graves

Are you still getting schematics in the chests in suledin, Rylor? If not how long did it take approximately till you stopped getting them?

Also if anyone believes that they have collected all t3 schematics please compile a list or take a screenshot of your inventory or something.

You can do it forever provided you leave at least one item in each chest. So DO NOT EVER hit take all. Grab the schematics and leave the junk.

I am sincerely hoping they do not patch this. Honestly i would probably stop playing until dlc comes out. No new game plus means this is the only way to get good gear early on. It lets me completely customize the way i want.
