I can confirm that the Still Ruins in Western Approach works the same way you can clear the whole instance and as long as you don't pick up the Tempest in the end you are good to go. I got several Tier 2 and Tier 3 schematics there.

You can do it forever provided you leave at least one item in each chest. So DO NOT EVER hit take all. Grab the schematics and leave the junk.
I am sincerely hoping they do not patch this. Honestly i would probably stop playing until dlc comes out. No new game plus means this is the only way to get good gear early on. It lets me completely customize the way i want.
At some point you will stop getting schematics because schematics that you already have don't re-spawn again. So there has to be a limit.

The chests drop stuff other then schematics though. And anyway, if you have all the schematics why would you keep doing this?

Can you read? Where did I say this? I asked the OP how long did it take him to collect all t3 schematics using this method.

No I cant read, I am just sitting here typing words magically, without actually knowing how to read.
What an idiotic question.
I misunderstood your original post, now calm down and try not to look like to much of a clown.

I've famed near 50+ times and still get the odd T3 schematic. Nothing Superior since a superior Battlemaster Coat about 20 runs ago which I hate the look of.

Are you still getting schematics in the chests in suledin, Rylor? If not how long did it take approximately till you stopped getting them?
Sorry for late reply been away, but I am still getting schematics, slowly. It's 1 or 2 every few runs for me, although I've not been in game very much these past few days. Do keep in mind there's 2 or 3 schematics per upgrade slot, per weapon, as well as 2 or 3 weapon schematics per weapon class (1h, 2h, bow, staff, etc) and then all the armor upgrades etc, as well as masterwork upgrades and hat schematics. So it's quite a lot, and will take a while I think.

It seems that Iron Bulls war table quests is bugged for me, so I can't get Masterwork Archon Staff schemetic, so i'm wondering...is it possible to get it from chests? So far I've found only blue armor schematics, no blue weapons...

What i would like to see, is a Tier 2 Schematic Farm Method Aswell, I know its irrelevant because Tier 3 is the best. But some items like hoods, would be easier to hunt down.

There's two places in the western approach that work, the Still Ruins (get the occasional T3 schematic here too), and a place at the very north that has darkspawn. Can't remember its name right now, but they both work for getting T2.
EDIT: It's called Coracavus.

If some reports are true, the level you first enter The Still Ruins dictates what tier of schematics it drops. It could be that if you want a Tier2 and a Tier3 farming location, you could enter The Still Ruins at an earlier level and use the dungeon in EDL for Tier3 farming.
I just cleared out The Still Ruins at level 16 and I'm getting mostly Tier2 schematics.

So, question that might be completely obvious, but - are schematics random? Is there no way to gather them all in a given run of the campaign without grinding and reloading for RNG chests?
That seems kinda dumb.

I think some schematics have fixed loot locations, but most are random.

Correct, things like the chests of the Hidden Waste tombs are fixed loot, but yes most schematics are random.

I have not started my playthrough yet but I would like to ask, is there a farming spot for lower levels to get tier 1 and 2 schematics? I would not like to rush to dead body-or-something and spoil fun fo rmyself

I've just started my second playthrough, (Third if you count my very first character I had to restart after 50 hours >.>) I'm currently using Haven, your first base of operations to farm. There are a number of chests/loot bags that give tier one materials/schematics.

I guess this no longer works since patch 2?
Just ignore me.
Missunderstood this line in patch notes -
[PC] Pressing the interact key (default “F”) will take everything from containers.

Did someone test this since the patch? I was also under the impression that it was altered, and not through the loot-all option.

I don't think this will ever be "fixed" It seems that some chests are set loot, while others are random. If they remove the random, then people could go playthroughs without the possibility of getting a specific item/schematic. I don't think they're going to spend time placing every single item in a set chest throughout the entire game when they can set it to random and be done with it. I think the glitches they were referring to in the patch were probably the infinite ability point and infinite influence glitches.

The patch simply means you can press F to open the chest and then press F again to take all. You can still just press F once and then take what you want without it taking all. ![]()
