I agree, the game is really good, but anywhere in the past, you loose full points and honors for bugs like this. The storyline is great, except in certain... instances where the game just falls flat on its face. But all in all, the storyline IS a 9, the gameplay is sorta an 8, but these glitches and bugs pull that gameplay down to around a 4 until they are resolved. Can you tell me you can give this game a 9 out of 10 if you can't bring yourself to play it because the bugs are so terrible? That the gameplay is so frustrating? Once errors are resolved, yes, I agree, a 9 out of 10, maybe better, but the fact that these errors exist SHOULD be reflected in a ranking score so that unwary buyers know better than to pick it up in the store at this point (such as myself, 1 week ago, I figured this would have been enough time for them to iron things out, being as it's been out for almost 3 months now)

And absolutely if the company would respond, I wouldn't be nearly as angry, but my one response so far from EA has been to come here to the social forums to seek fixes rather than from their company... even though the forums state outright that these are social... don't seek fixes... thanks a lot for nothing.

Oh, one more note, they have fixed most everything. Only they did it for the PC and ignored us here apparently. Great.

Another point Nagiloum, I agree about not being able to just play another character, it's not just the dex bug, which I wouldn't have even noticed for a good long time, that's keeping most of us from playing. It's waiting a minute after every kill, watching NPC's that are supposed to be laying down standing halfway through a bed, audio that sounds like it's stuck in a bottle around the corner or not there at all, watching an ending sequence of a talking chair instead of a Queen. Seriously. I can't just bring myself to play through that even if the characters classes are working as intended. I want smooth gameplay, characters to show up and be there when they are supposed to, plotline to follow the actual decisions I made, and not bugging out because it allowed me the option but apparently didn't expect or plan for me to select it? Such as myself as king instead of Alistair under human noble. Things like that that just make this game unacceptable.

I say again, this game is POTENTIALLY great because as it stands now it's unplayable to many minds, and until it is playable again, it is anything but deserving of any game of the year crap, or a 9 out of 10, or even a 6 out of 10, especially with the customer service we're receiving.

I might even go so far as to say, "stay away from BioWare until they walk away from EA" because EA's notorious for terrible customer service and satisfaction. Let the broken game partnership continue I suppose if it's working for them to make their millions, but I won't be feeding that pot anymore.

Just so, you get my meaning.
I would even dear to say, that some of us wouldn't be so upset with it, if DA:O comes from a smaller, maybe younger Developer. Not one with a history such as Bioware. More like Acaron / Sacred, Pyranhabytes / Gothic 1 and 2, GSC Gamesworld / S.T.A.L.K.E.R. CD Projekt / The Witcher. Companies which lacks the Experience and Resources that Bioware has and don't have a Publisher like EA (multi-BILLION Dollar by now?).
These are all great Games, that had to suffer a lot of bugs, error and flaws, but even after release they did their best to make it enjoyable for the Gamer, right up to OFFICIAL encouraged and SUPPORTED community Patches.
For the ones like these,i could imagine it might be hard to correct their failures, after the Game has gone out and even worse with fixing the Console ports.

I could turn a blind eye to that, but not with the big Names that are forging the Gameindustry for nearly two decades. From them i expect a lot more. Bloody Hell, I'm down to not even a perfect Game from the start... but very hard work afterwards to satisfy the People who bought their Product!

I agree I'm disgusted with Bioware, I have purchased every game they made with the exception of Jade Empire. Now I just can't bring my self to play this knowing I run the chance of having my saves corupted. I can't belive that it has been 3 months and the only stupid patch was about achivements. I was so looking forward to this game, if it wasn't thus and the lack of cominication I would have bought all the DLC. Now I can't imagine giving Boware 1 more penny for such a glitched game.

Ohh and to answer your question I don't think we will get a patch! Unfortunatley even if they do I think I'm at the point where I just don't care anymore. Its kinda sad when you lose faith in somthing you trusted so blindly before. What I mean is before this game came out I didn't even need to read a review if Bioware made it I bought it, becasuse I knew it would be awsome! Now I'll wait for the reviews and comments come out before I take a risk on on of there games.

Funny thing about the "Will not play until fixed" legion, BW/EA has no reason to care about that legion.  You won't play the game, so what, that's not their problem.  They already have your money.

What it should be is the "Will not purchase DLC, will not purchase Mass Effect 2, etc" until DA is fixed legion.  That's my stance atleast.

It would also be great if someone could get gameplay videos of bugs like these occurring, maybe a compilation, and start posting the vids up on Youtube and other forums, with an explanation of how buggy the game is.  I imagine that would get alot more attention than random topics like these in the BW social forums.

well said....and to take it even further, put me down on the "won't buy ME2 or future Bioware products until DA:O is properly patched" legion.  And yes, I know it's a different dev team, but that doesn't/shouldn't matter to me: Joe Consumer.   Accountability is on Bioware the company to support the bug-laden code they put out there.

I'm with the won't buy another game from BioWare group, as I already stated. And I urge any to not buy another game with them until they improve their customer support and these errors. This is completely absurd, especially the part while, as stated above, accountability is on Bioware, but EA just sends us here.

The biggest problem with us posting vids though, is it's not exactly easy to post vids from our xbox's I don't have any mods, and, to be honest, I'm a little lazy at this point to go through that trouble, but I will shoot angry emails at BioWare and EA every day until I get a response, and file complaints with the BBB

The bugs are annoying, some even game breaking, but the thing that really bugs me is the complete lack of response from these companies. They keep releasing DLC and even an expansion soon but can't fix a few major bugs... that's really sad. I had my worries when EA bought Bioware because it seems that EA cares about money a hell of a lot more than the people buying the games. I guess they don't realize that by doing this they will lose a lot more than they make when people simply refuse to buy their games.

I'm really hoping for a patch soon, I'd love to get the expansion but if they won't even fix the original game there is really no point. More items to overload the storage chest and probably more bugs, no thanks.

I didn't purchase Mass Effect 2 based on Bioware's attitude of late. I Got RTO, because I caved. I just love this game so much, warts and all. BUT, I can, however, not purchase future games. DAO, if it comes out, I'm probably buying it. ME2. KOTOR online, pass.

Havent bought RtO or ME2 so far. And wont buy Awaking. Why should I? There are other developers out there with nice games who deserved the money for their support and cool addons. Even if EA already has got my money for the retail, they wont get more by trying to sell me their addons. First of all they should fix the core engine before telling me "Alls fine now, you can download our latest addons without any question".

Its my hobby, and I dont want to get stressed by it. DAO did so btw. Thats why it collects dust 6 days a week. The 7th day is just to check if there is an update available so far.

I've put this into my last couple of community reports to the dev team (as well as the corrupted saves bug). Soon, we will be deciding on the contents of the next title update, so we should be able to let you know at least when/if it will be fixed.

The Witcher even went as far releasing The Witcher: Enhanced Edition for $40 and giving it for FREE to people who owned the original. Like Bioware they listen to their community and but they arent as big so thats all they really have to work with except for The Witcher 2...

Thanks, Victor!

I was curious if any of the other known bugs (such as those collected in this thread) have been passed on, too? Many of them are trivial, but several are pretty irritating,  like set bonuses not working, certain armors displaying incorrectly (e.g. Warden Commander armor on female elves), the party chest (a deal breaker leaving no storage options for those of us who don't like to cheat accidentally level up our items), or Shale never appearing in the Post-Coronation.

Thank you again for keeping us in the loop.

I can't believe it we actually got a BioWare response on here... I'm shocked... Watching and waiting all week, sending all my hate mail (still no responses from my requests for support from official support resources) But it's really nice to know SOMEONE is looking through these things... (I also keep referencing these threads in my requests for assistance in the hope I don't get sent back here again for fixes...)

Thanks for the lifeline thrown out there Victor to let us know you guys are at least watching.

I dont think anyone is about to give up. If one already had done so, he wouldnt visit this forums again. The reason why Im not playing DAO anymore is because youre running into the same problems over and over again. Even if you start a new game you already know where the first bug hits you. Thats a killer on every game! And there are other games out on which I dont think the same - those games are just fun...as a hobby should be.

If theres a fix which adresses most of the reported /bugs/problems/things, Im surely buy RtO and begin to think about adding new content to the core game again. So far, I better stick with the games I can enjoy. But thanks to Victor leaving a note here for us console gamers. Lets hope, the BW developers will notice your words.

It's nice to see someone from Bioware actually say they are looking into things but in the end talk is cheap. I'll believe they are fixing the game when it is fixed and not one second before. Seems like us console gamers are getting the shaft when it comes to fixes. As for the "will not play again till fixed legion" I'm not a member of that legion as I am a member of the "will not pay a penny for DAO DLC nor buy any other product made by EA or Bioware till game is fixed legion". I may not even buy any DAO DLC even if they fix the game since they think they can shaft us console gamers and get away with it. The only way to get these companies attention these days is to not give them any money. I'm angry and disppointed at the same time here as I'm not made of money. I can't afford to buy many new games and I got Dragon Age thinking I was getting a great game. A game I could invest hundreds of hours in and enjoy for months. Instead I get a buggy pos I am afraid to play for fear that I will get save game corruption or the final quest will break not letting me finish the game.  EA/Bioware just pumping out DLC after DLC without fixing the base game just shows how much they care that they released a broken game. :(

I agree with everyone on the fact that the number (and severity) of the bugs in a game of this supposed caliber definitely lowers its overall score significantly. I also think that a player shouldn't have to spend hours on message boards reading about the problems and learning ways around them. That being said, I have spent the time doing that, both hoping to help others after the first failed title update and to increase my own knowledge so I can make sure I don't have issues.

Honestly, after making myself aware of the problems I might encounter, I made it through my first playthrough doing almost everything with no game breaking bugs encountered. Also, I learned long ago to always keep multiple saves around for ALL games in case something goes awry. Now, I am not saying that you can avoid all the nasty bugs in this game but my travels indicate that those "game breaking" ones people complain about are definitely avoidable if you are careful. You just have to take the time to learn....

I'm a pretty easy going guy. I've been patient. Even when the update broke our games, I was patient. But this is a slap in the face. Didn't bioware say that there would be a patch that would come with RTO that fixed some of the problems we were experiancing like the dex bug. Instead what did we get?  A fix for achievments. And now your telling us that a dex fix is a maybe at best.

I really hope it is when, not if. I even got RTO hoping that the update was coming as well, but still nothing...Image IPB
The save corruption glitch worries me more because it seems to be based on the amount of items sold to vendors or in your chest at the keep. More DLC and an expansion means a lot more items, therefore a lot greater chance to get corrupted saves. It's great that DLC and expansions are coming so fast but there are serious issues that need to be fixed, I've been waiting patiently for months even bought the DLC but I'm starting to really lose faith. If nothing is done by the time the expansion is released I'm just gonna trade the game in, not spend more money on it, it's just not worth it anymore.
