I wish you guys came up with more than "it just magically works now, my EA store preorder came early and for the last several hours I've been having the same problem, the game crashes as soon as you leave the launcher. I've reinstalled several times, after it didn't work the first time I updated all of my drivers, direct X, PhysX, and c++ redistributable and I still get the same error.

I'm running with a core 2 duo e8400 at 3.00 GH (I tried both at standard speeds and overclocked to 3.6), GTX 275, and 4GB of ram.

Also running windows 7 64 bit

Check the size of the folder its intalled. Mine was WAY small. I was also doing stuff while the first install. On the last successful I touched NOTHING other than the shift key to key the screen saver off. I mean no internet, no email, not nothing... May have sacrificed a small animal (previously frozen )

It shows 9.45 GB, What does your working copy show up as?

yup yours is not fully installed.

I have 11.4gb, 4617 files, 62 folders. Now I played a little so the size may or may not have changed. but yes the first few times I saw 9.45. I have two DVD roms and I had to put a disc in each one before I started. This way it never asked for a second disc and just continued the install.

****, looks like that worked. Put in both disks and never touched the computer. And I didn't even have to sacrifice any small animals. I've never come across an install so problematic. Still, now its working and I probably won't see the daylight for about a week. Thanks for the help.

This installer is pretty retarded my install broke because when it would only accept the second disk in my secondary lower drive, trying again with both disks in at the start.

SOLUTION: Extract english.rar from disk 2 into your Mass Effect 2 folder.

Fully installed with both disks in at once, installer must have not been tested with PCs with multipul dvd drives

Just into the folder, or into the "data" folder?

I bought the game via steam and downloaded today, and while playing ME2
on Windows mode, It crashed after one hour of gameplay. Is there a
possible solution?

Currently I have:
Processor: Intel® Core™2 Quad CPU Q8200 @2.33GHz
Graphic: NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT
RAM: 4.00 GB

And yet I still get message  while playing ME2 The following error message
