I've been sitting on a couple of Inquisition Perk points for a bit, hoarding them out of fear that there might be something I really need to have.  I read a post recently where someone said the Advanced Scout is really helpful for finding materials to upgrade Skyhold, finding quarries, logging stands, etc.

I just reached Skyhold.

Can anyone recommend any perks that they found really useful?  I've already taken the one for extra health potions.

For me it's deft hands fine tools because I like to open everything and the tailoring perks for more storage. I also like the perk that gives you an extra skill point.

Inventory, 10% chance for 1-10 extra herbs and extra ability.

I did take the tailoring one.  Herbs is very tempting, as is the deft hands.  I hate not knowing what's behind a door.

Anyone know how many, on average, you get for a full playthrough, doing everything possible?  Considering the rate at which I get them, it seems they are pretty limited.

You can directly buy influence at about .9 gold per influence point later into the game from a Skyhold merchant. The Inquisition cap is 20 iirc?

Personally...

Forces: Focus upgrades, resistance upgrade, potion upgrade

Connections: Short List

Secrets: Deft Hands

Inquisition: Everything except one of the capacity perks.

That's 10 "must have" points for me, and the rest are to taste like conversation perks, or crafting material perks.

I actually haven't seen much benefit in the dialogue option Perks. I haven't finished the game though.

I've gotten a couple of extra agents that way as well as learning a bit more about the world and having some (for me) more satisfying solutions to some problems.

Each of these perks additionally give 25 XP extra for codex entries, which may not sound like all that much, but there are a lot of codex entries in the game.

I wouldn't consider these must-have perks, but they are certainly useful enough in their way.

Get all the dialogue ones first, then the lockpicking one and then whatever you want.
They add some interesting lines and experience.

You probably wanna go military though, because you unlock the tier 2 and 3 focus skills.

+1 potion slot

+4 health potions

both +100 focus

+10% defense

lockpicking

The inventory ones are "nice" as is the forward scouts one but I wouldn't say they are must haves.

Without going too deep the one for the extra herbs is really good. It can sometimes proc with up to 9 extra herbs I find myself not getting as distracted by picking herbs after I got it.

I also personally like the one that provide more xp on research turn in, you can grab it at any time because it is retroactive. Its a nice boost in xp in the long run.

Deft Hands fine tools is a must for some quests + alot of treasure. Also the dialogue/codex based ones will give you more xp for codex and different ways to solve problems. Also extra potion slot and extra potions.

I really want to get the Deft Hands Fine Tools one, but if I'm reading it right, it requires you to already have 4 Secrets perks before it unlocks. Which is a shame because not many of the others in Secrets appeal to me, tbh.

If you play the game a bit, you will unlock Agents. Agents will occupy position in each of the 3 branches associated with a counselor speeding their time for performing actions on wartable by 5%, and also count as unlocked perks towards requirements (ie: if you have 3 agents recruited in the Secrets, you only need to spend 1 actual point to unlock Deft Hands).
