Well the issue is that while playing as 2H warrior my character is quite squishy. And while its fun swinging around the massive weapons it feels a bit too slow. I am like 40 hours in and I don't know if I should restart with a mage or complete the game and then restart. What do you think?
Need some advice guys.

40 hrs = level? What's your build (what skills have you picked)? Gear?

lvl 14 I think, Skills are in 2H and battlemaster in equal manner. Gear is the crafted dragon heavy armour with fereldan greataxe.

You could always switch it up to a Sword/Shield Warrior, or even just pick up some abilities that generate guard!

You pick a specialization yet? This is going to seem like an odd recommendation considering you were concerned about squishiness, but have you considered Reaver? The Reaver combat style is a lot more fast paced as Dragon-rage more or less replaces your basic attack. I do about 1000+DPS(depending on where my HP is at. It scales significantly once my HP starts dropping.) on my 19 Reaver. You do need to be a bit more careful as your HP levels bounce around a bit, but investing in the regen potion upgrades and %heal on kill mods/rings helps a lot.
You may also want to look at your party composition and take a more direct role in managing your tank. If you don't have a tank, well then I'd start there. Make sure you're bringing one along and that they're skilled towards survivability and aggro generation. It helps if you initiate combat with the tank and drop a taunt or two to help hold that initial aggro. Charging in first with a 2H gets a bit touchy there at times.
At any rate, whatever you decide to do, I hope you're able to find a build you enjoy.

I think you should go full 2H first.

I have cassandra tanking most of the time, I thought I would go champion honestly because it seems it would add the missing defence bonuses.
