Ok so:

1. Both have good dialogue, but Sera is funnier from what I hear (even though that bug has it to where I havent heard her say a SINGLE thing in open world dialogue). But I have history with Varric from last game, hes great.

2. They are both ranged deeps; but which does more damage?

Who to choose? If Sera wasnt a lesbian I would pick her

What about Blackwall vs Cass? Which one is a better tank? Which does more damage? Argh!

Blackwall is a better tank than Cassandra IMO, but I like her better as a character.

Wait, what? What's wrong with that?

I cant romance her!

:(

Do I need Cass in my party to romance her or is it like ME2 and ME3? Im using blackwall ATM; whats the main difference between him and cass?

I really need to decide about Varric and Sera though, going nuts!

Just alternate your party. You'll get more banter that way.

I'm biased in favor of Blackwall - but he's my LI and I ended up giving him the best gear, so he did a better job overall by default. But I certainly used Cass as much as possible early on and took her with me for certain quests (it was kind of a bad idea to take two tanks, but...story reasons - wanted them both around).

As far as Varric vs. Sera, I just went with Varric and Bianca - you can upgrade Bianca, and Varric did what seemed like a good deal of damage, but I dunno - haven't used Sera all that often.

As far as i'm aware you don't need Cass in the team to romance her, as most of those interactions happen at skyhold

Cass - Sera are my picks but I did have this kind of issue on the mage kind of side instead with Dorian and Solas and to an extent Vivienne really being such interesting characters

I use Sera and Cassandra. They are my go to party members. I swap them out sometimes but I generally have 1 of them in my party at all times. I think Cassandra is a better tank than Blackwall, though that could be that I just have Cassandra outfitted better. I'm playing on nightmare difficulty, and my Cassandra can solo dragons.

Cassandra was much better tank than Blackwall in my game.

also always choose Varric. but since I'm a mage, I use both Cass and Blackwall.

I'm not to keen on Solas. Vivienne is my more consistent mage, bringing in Dorian whenever I feel like a switch up. Dorian's and Sera's banter is funny.

Blackwall>Cassandra for tanking. Everything else is up to you.

The champion spec is better for tanking but Cass' templar spec provides a nice party wide damage buff, on death she heals and damage buffs the party, and wrath of heaven/spell purge is great for fighting demons and setting off Cross Class Combos. Use upgrade Charging Bull first so you can cast Wrath of Heaven for free. Cass certainly makes fighting the demons at Rift closing much easier.

Varric vs Sera is a little tricker. For easy of use I'd go with Sera and her tempest spec. Varric's spec is all about laying down traps which is not bad if you got the patience to do so.

Blackwall could solo dragons in my game. Eventually he had such a constant guard up that nothing could even touch him. It was fantastic.

Sera's banter is funnier than Varric IMO and her dps is really good with the tempest spec ( plus that fire bottle + a thousand cut bug )

But usually I switch characters around, it depends on the quest I'm doing e.g. Black wall for the warden quests, Cass for chantry/mage/templar quests.

For me I've been always choosing Varric and Blackwall because they seem like better fighters to me and Blackwall and Varric are my character's friends and Blackwall romanced my character.

Thousand Cuts bug? How? What does it do? Please tell me! Anything to make my nightmare play through that little bit easier!

Varric and iron bull. Surprised he isn't getting more love. Sera is too crazy for me. Iron bull has some excellent banter. Especially with Vivienne as the Mage (actually I prefer Dorian to Vivienne but her resurrection ability makes her a necessity a lot of the time.)
