So I heard that there were multiple fates for certain characters as with the previous games. Some said that Varric could be corrupted by red lyrium and/or killed, Sera could be banished, Blackwall could be executed, etc.

What I want to know is this: Are there actually any fates for the companions involving death or removing them from the team? This excludes simply telling them to leave at Skyhold or Haven, I want to know if any of these things I've heard are true. Can Varric get possessed? Can Blackwall be executed? Etc.

What are the different fates of these DA:I companions?

From what I've seen/heard, all the stuff about Varric getting corrupted by red lyrium or leaving the party after the Fade is untrue. Not sure about the other companions.

I didn't get any epilogue bits concerning my companions, apart from Cassandra. Was my ending bugged or something?

I get the feeling they're saving them for DLC or something else honestly.

they have to be. There was even less then what there was IN DA2. My favorite part of bioware games is the comoanions and I think it's fair to know what happens to them

I'd actually say they avoided covering individual companion's fates in the epilogues so they won't end up with a DA:O situation, where people are getting upset that their appearances in future games contradicts the epilogue they got.

The only one I know for certain has multiple fates is Blackwall.

As for the others, at least in my game, basically everyone said they'd stay with me so long as the Inquisition still stands, save for Leliana (became Grand Divine in my game), Cassandra (plans to leave and rebuild the Seekers), Vivienne (I forget exactly but I think she wanted to try and open another Circle), Solas (he... does something), and Varric (wants to go back to Kirkwall). I think all of those choices also reflect how close you are with your party and other decisions - I told Cassandra to rebuild the Seekers, supported Leliana, and didn't spend much time with Viv or Varric. Solas I know is plot oriented.

Not sure if it's worth noting, but aside from Leliana, those three companions who said they planned to leave were the ones whose personal quests I didn't complete. Finished everyone else's and they all said they'd stay by my side. Maybe coincidence, but I think maybe not.

There are other, non-death (possibly) related changes for characters - you'll notice that their portraits in team selection change after their personal missions, depending on your choices. Don't know if it applies to every party member but I had portrait changes for Cole, Blackwall, and Iron Bull after completing their quests. Will have to play again and spend more time with everybody to see what else may happen.

I believe, after the personal quest, that Blackwall could be considered dead. Simply put [spoilers] He's in jail for being a murderer. You have the option to leave him there in which he'll be more than likely hung by the neck until dead. [/spoilers]

No idea about the other people..

If you sacrifice the Chargers and secure the alliance with the Qunari, Iron Bull mentions that once you're done cleaning up Corypheus' mess, he's going back to Par Vollen to become Hissrad again. He's not in any rush, though.

Dorian likewise notes that he eventually plans on returning to Tevinter, but for the foreseeable future plans on staying on with the Inquisition.

Blackwall, if he's allowed to return  to the Inquisition, pledges himself to it fully. Sera and Cole also decide to stick around.

Cassandra and Vivienne both have a chance at becoming Divine; if they do, that's what they're up to. If not, no idea for Vivienne. Cassandra may or may not decide to reform the Seekers, depending on what you advise her towards. I believe that if she decides to reform them, she intends to make them an arm of the Inquisition, not the Chantry.

Varric intends to head back to Kirkwall to help with the city's recovery, potentially splitting his time writing a book about the Inquisition, though you can talk him out of it. Like Bull and Dorian, he intends on sticking around long enough to finish cleaning up the mess.

Cassandra also reforms the Seekers if she becomes divine.

I'm thinking they're going to do something with Weisshaupt, at least. It's a giant unresolved mystery just sitting there in the epilogue, there's no way it isn't going to be addressed. If you had Hawke journey off to Weisshaupt, Varric can't be expected to do nothing once it goes silent, and I'm sure Blackwall has horse or two in that particular race no matter what.

What happens if you romance a companion? Does their epilogue change? If I can prevent Iron Bull from joining the Qun, I'll do it. I hate that system.

Iron Bull can leave the Qun based on your choice

Yes. I romanced Cassandra and made her become Divine, so in the end she actually left me and it gave me a very bittersweet ending where she has her final moment of comfort with my inquisitor. I have yet to see it, but you can tell her to not become divine and abandon the seekers and then I believe she'll stay with you.

Companions don't have epilogues, you can just infer from their dialogue what they plan to do after.

In both previous games, there were instances where either the Warden or Hawke might be put in a position to have to kill one of their companions. Are there scenarios or similar occurrences during Inquisition?

If so, I've not seen evidence of anything like that.

The only companion you can kill is Blackwall. Everyone else just leaves you when they get mad enough, or you boot them from the team. Presumably this is because they intend to use them as cameos in the future, and don't want to have to keep inventing reasons for them to still be alive.
