What happened? Bioware released Origins and said hay look we made a fantastic game! The gaming community agreed! Then Bioware said, hay we made a great game, lets change it! Now we have DA:II and Inquisition.

This seems like a theme nowadays with developers, they make a great first game then they completely ignore all the things that made the first one great.

The Dragon age series of games feels like the story was written by a schizophrenic with add. Theirs little connection between the games. Why did dragon age 2 not continue the story of the wardens? Where the heck did the inquisition come from? No connection to the wardens at all.

One of the things that made origins great was that you were a bad ass grey warden kicking arch demon ass. Now I'm I feel like managing what seems like a presidential cabinet of advisers.

I am currently reinstalling origins and have stopped playing inquisition.

I agree but I'm not going to let it stop me from enjoying the game. I'm exponentially more competent than any of the idiots who play multiplayer so it's pretty fun and difficult in that regard. One of the few online games that rewards babysitting the blueberries.

I must admit it's somewhat refreshing to have so much to do in the open world rather than just rush to the next fight.

But getting rid of the RTS aspects and overall butchering the well established combat system really puts the game down a notch for me.

So wardens and a epic story is the reason you like DAO. Okay let me tell you something bioware did not like to make the first game they wanted to grow from games like Baldurs Gate 2 they wanted to go to another way more centered on a characters growth and emotions like in DA2 but they did not have success with it as we do not like going from epic to this is great. And since they still like making games centered on characters and their growth but they need to eat they gave us a mix of the 2 games and its is the second  best game of the series.

The kind of streamlining that castrates a vintage, quality game to make it appeal to the masses.

We don't want Dragon Age: Skyrim. We don't want New Super Dragon Age Bros.

But this argument is pointless. I'm wasting my breath because Bioware has already decided it wants more boring lore and less gameplay; more veggies, less meat and potatoes.

I totally disagree.  The story is very fleshed out and pretty well done IMO.  They just butchered the combat system.  Alot of action based skills that the AI is too dumb to do anything good with and nearly no tactical settings to tell them what to do when your not controlling them.

Hmm...in that case, Bioware should not have done a sequel and just do an entirely new game. You can't really take a game and completely remake the sequel and not expect backlash. That's like changing the actors in a movie sequel. Your fans are going to notice and going to have their immersion broken.

I dont understand. Their idea of the games was never to continue the story. The HoF/Ow is done. The champion has done their bit (but with a breif cameo) Now its the inqusition.

You are going to hate mass effect 4 then. Which is not the continuing adventures of the normandy crew

To be fair 3 games did gave us the closure we needed and Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 felt like true sequels. And I bet that "Mass Effect 4" will not be named like that. Actually thinking about it naming DAI like that was probably to show us that the story is moved to something else.

Well technically it's called "The Next Mass Effect" but everyone says ME4 because it's shorter.

Why did DA2 not continute the story of the wardens: What, you want ANOTHER blight? Boring. The wardens appeared with Corypheus in a DLC, that's their story. It'd be boring if we were stuck with playing a warden every game, not to mention it wouldn't really make sense and it'd limit the game. Wardens have duties.

You saw where the Inquisition came from. Cassandra and Leliana were Seekers and the hands of the divine; They had some starting forces, and they recruited more. When word spread, people flocked to join the Inquisition. There, Inquisition. It doesn't need a connection to wardens... Not to mention, Grey Wardens didn't make DAO great. Most people hated Ostagar after the first time... Hence the Skip Ostagar mod being so popular.

Well, we still have three games and plenty of DLC's about Normandy crew which is quite enough. I would be really happy if they bring The Warden back as protagonist (and some of his most significant companions) for the new game. I know that they wanted to tell a story about world, not hero, but thing is that I care more about heroes I liked, not the world which is just a background for them and their stories.

I think Inquisition has better companions, a slightly worse story but the characters are side plots are always more interesting in Dragon age in my opinion. The gameplay is good, I find the gameplay in Origins to Inquisition totally different, but both great in their own right. I like what the Warden got, what they are doing makes a lot of sense. I think Hawke got great closure. Finally, I adored the political bit of Inquisition and the advisers, it was a refreshing change of pace in the game, and makes your character seem like something more than a thug that by coincidence stumbles into decisions that they usually have little knowledge about. In the end, opinions exist, and your post gives no constructive criticism, it simply moans, which helps no one.

I'm glad they didn't just follow the story of the wardens. I want to see other aspects of this universe, not just some narrow Grey Warden stuff.

But Gray Wardens was a gold mine, thanks to them the story became so popular. And Leliana, of course :P

Sooo, let's see...

We play a character plucked from obscurity
Who has a special power
Who is recruited by a once mighty organization fallen on hard times
Who rallies a team of misfits
Including a sexy mage, wise mentor, drinking buddy with a big axe, honourable knight...
And acquires allies both expected and unexpected
While a civil war rages
To kill an ancient evil
And there are dragons.

Which game am I talking about again?

The sexy mage is out of reach that is the difference and no special power before recruited by the organization.

Maybe for Dragon age 2, as they had much less time to work on the game than the first, not on Inquisition.

This about sums it up, its all about profits and shareholders now. They'll keep changing it up until the box sales explode or they destroy the DA world trying.

Bioware make a good game, you personally dislike it, your logic: "Must be the corrupted Ea overlords at work again!"
