I was wondering if anyone agrees that the voice acting in general was superb in Inquisition, perhaps even the best so far in the DA universe. I certainly adored it. But, as it normally goes, there are the best of the bunch. For me it was Iron Bull, Solas, Sera(that giggle) and Cullen and as of Inquisitors, female British and male American. What VAs did you particularly like?

They're all extremely good, but Cole's really sticks out to me. He does that dreamy, haunted rambling so well--it really sounds like he's somewhere else entirely even when he's standing right in front of you.

I tried a qunari FemInquis with the American voice at first, but I had to re-roll a few hours in. I just couldn't stand it... but the British voice sounds wrong on a qunari, too. I guess I'll have to do my qunari run with the Male American voice.

Cullen's VA is great, especially during some of the romance scenes. Varric's is solid as always and Iron Bull is another of my favorites. Vivienne, too--she sells the uppity but sickeningly-sweet snob thing.

I quite enjoyed everyone's performances - think they all hit the right notes. I will give a highfive to Vivienne - liked her performance in general, but I think the dialogue related to her personal quest showed range (also, I like Indira Varma because I'm a Luther fan and she played Luther's ex during S1, so it's cool to hear her). Oh, and Blackwall because he's got the masculine LI thing going on - hee!

But honestly, everyone else was great as far as I was concerned - definitely enjoyed conversations with Cole, Solas, Bull, even wacky Sera, etc. And I <3 Greg Ellis even though I didn't romance Cullen.

Whoever voiced Dorian was absolutely superb and Josephine was amazing.

Everyone was just so good. I'd say Solas, Cassandra, Sera, Vivienne, and ofc Leliana were my favorite of the bunch. As for the Inquisitors, I love Alix's performance the most and the American male VA.

Vivienne had the best VA but Bull surprised me the most.
I thought FPJ sounded like the love child of James Vega and Sean Connery in promotional material but in game he nailed it.

For me it would be Vivienne, Dorian, and Sera... who would have been completely unbearable with a less skilled actress.

As for some other popular choices, Bull is much less off-putting than he was in the promos, but I'm still not sure about the choice of direction. Despite really like David Gareth-Lloyd, I just can't get on the Solas train as hard as I try.

The VA for Hawke and my Inquisitor. She avoids sounding like a **** unlike femshep.

Brian Bloom, who plays Varric, is probably my absolute favourite video game VA. He's always excellent, and even when just performing an 'additional voices' role, such as in Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, noticing him somehow makes a game a little better.

Nicholas Boultan as Hawke is really good too. I wish he had the starring role.

I modelled my Inquisitor after myself, so played as an English male, and found the performance woeful. He was marred by some equally appalling writing, in fairness, but i didn't like him at all. If i ever play the game again, i think i'll definitely play as a woman, but it'll be hard to choose between Alix and Sumalee.

Vivienne, Solas, and Sera were my favorites but almost everyone was great.

Even the Orlesian accents weren't as horrific as in the previous games.

Never been a fan of the male VA in bioware games but I always play a male character, The pain.

morrigan :D

i squee'd in the scene she was introduced in. there's just something oh so velvety and ecclectic about claudia black's voice that brings morrigan to life for me. as for the new companions, i really enjoyed vivienne, dorian, and the iron bull. voice acting was superb all around, though

Ramon Tikaram really put a lot of soul into Dorian. Certainly deserves a lot of recognition. It's hard to single too many people out, though. I've rarely run into VAs for major characters in this series that I dislike. I *do* think and will always find a way to mention that I think whoever directed the sessions for Justinia either had nothing but bad takes to choose from or some really poor judgement on the stuff they chose.

Gonna echo what others have said here in that all the voice work has been great, but in particular I love love love Josephine's voice. Also Cassandra's and Sera's. I haven't met Iron Bull yet, and haven't talked to Black wall much as yet, so can't say.

Male inquisitor voice 1 is amazing IMO. His laugh is convincing, his anger feels real, it's just pretty great. The only thing he failed at IMO is when he's being solemn, he sounds too self-aware of it.

All of them are really good. Dorian sounds fantastic. Sera is great simply for being such a rare accent in games and for having the most infectious laugh. Iron Bull manages to be big and strong like a Qunari but has a lot of warmth in his voice the essence of the character was captured perfectly. Claudia still has Morrigan down after such a long break from playing the character. Her voice for Morrigan is so silky and seductive .

British male voice is the only one I'm having issues with so far. Often his tone is wrong, the emphasis is on the wrong words contextually. And he sounds completely baffled and surprised whenever he asks for more information in a conversation.

Dorian

His presence stole the show the moment he stepped into that Chantry. The whole game seemed to liven up ever since he joined the Inquisition. Every syllable is brimming with personality, charm, and intent. Although he mostly comes off sassy and optimistic, is VA doesn't fail him in Dorian's moments of conflict and weakness, and it just feels so real, as if he's really there with you.

Cullen

Cause he's hawt lol.

But seriously, what I've enjoyed from romancing him is seeing the range in his personality. Upon meeting him, he acts like the perfect commander- voice booming with assertiveness and a sharp, calculating personality. During off hours and cozy up to him, he's prone to awkward stutters and pitiful ineloquence   When he's intimate with you, his voice softens so much and betrays a feeling of vulnerability. Other times of intimacy, his voice oozes illegal amounts of sexy lol.

All the NPCS are great, but special note goes to Iron Bull, Cole, Vivienne, Varric (as always), and Josephine.

For the Inquisitor, though, the only ones I actually like are AWR and Jon Curry. HHP and Sumalee weren't at their best--Sumalee especially surprised me with her monotone.

Eve Myles was in Dragon age 2 and not this game, so I guess I would have to say Blackwalls voice actor. If Merrill was in this game however, the top spot would always be Eve Myles.

I was pleasantly surprised by Jon Curry as the American male inquisitor. I didn't think he'd be able to go deep enough; he's still not quite as deep as I'd like(was hoping for something in a Ron Perlman), but I was more than satisfied with him for my qunari inquisitor.

Credit where it's due, Indra Varma turns in an excellent performance as Vivienne even though I find encasing her in concrete more appealing with every word that comes out of her mouth. I don't think I'd feel that way if those words weren't so well delivered, so that's something.

For the most part, FPJ did a good job as Iron Bull, I think. He slipped a bit, but I do think he got to the core of the character, over all.

I have to give props to Miranda Raison for being able to give Cassandra such emotional range while maintaining a made-up accent.

I think that would be the thing precluding us from going to Nevarra in a future game. They can't populate a whole country using Raison's (fabulous) made up accent. Can they?
