Hey I was hoping one of the Bioware techies could answer a question for me, cause I was reading the
FAQ on the Mass Effect site and something got me a little nervous.
Specifically this....
"Q: It says the saved games must be on the hard drive and not an
memory unit for Xbox 360. If I transfer my saves from my MU to the hard
drive, will they work?
A:Your save games must exist on the original storage device that
was used when you played through and completed Mass Effect 1. This can
be on a MU or on the Xbox 360 hard drive."
This could be an issue for me because I upgraded from a 20GB, 360
hard drive to a 120 GB. After I got the new hard drive I used the
Microsoft transfer cable to transfer everything over (which entails
deleting everything off the old hard drive). I doubt it will be a
problem since I've played Mass Effect on the new hard drive and it
recognizes all the saves; but the claim that my saved game must exist
on "the original storage device I used when I completed Mass Effect"
made me a tad nervous.
I realize you guys are really busy right now; but if you could spare the time I'd appreciate a reply.
Thanks for your time.
Will ME1 saves transfer to ME2 if I transfered them to a new 360 Hard Drive?

id say its ok. the files it uses cannot be copied to memory cards etc, id say thats what the disclaimer means. when you upgrade hard drives it takes everything. so you should be fine.

I'm pretty certain it won't be a problem. Its just the wording used in the FAQ, that made me a little anxious. Regardless I'm working towards finishing the ME1 Campaign with my level 60 soldier on the new hard drive anyway so that I'll have an end game save that was originally completed on the hard drive I'm using now..

I made the mistake of having the game shipped to my door rather than opting to pick it up at the store when I preordered it back in November, so I may have to wait for a while too. On the upside I haven't played Mass Effect in a long time and I'm actually having a lot of fun playing through it for the 7th time. FYI, if you're playing ME1 try popping some Geth with a HMWSR sniper rifle with high explosive ammo and two Mark VII Rail Extensions or Mark X Scram Rails. Rigging your Sniper Rifle up like that turns it into what is basically a scoped artillery piece. I think its the most entertaining weapon in the whole game. I hope there's a gun like that one in ME2.
