The Witcher 2 does have a nice romantic arc when it comes to Triss and Yennefer, but I think a lot of the context is lost without having played the game or reading the book.  In that respect, yeah it was lackluster because it just seems like an mindless screw.

They should have implemented the background better. If you read the books, and play the games, the Triss + Yennefer romances are actually very good.

Witcher has very little romance. Just the way I like it.

For those saying the Witcher romance or sex scenes arent realistic and the "oh you just saved my life Geralt do you want to have sex" yeah that would most likely happen if you heroically saved someones life especially in that society. Next in Bioware games the characters do not have sex until you have flirted with them for a long time but there are exceptions like Jack. If you were constantly risking your life and there was someone interested in you you wouldnt wait like they do in Bioware games so yeah its more realistic. They treat the romances as if there was nothing going on and they are just living comfortably in the city instead of being in a high stress situation trying to save the world. Bioware seems to be getting better and if you can see they made the romances funny on purpose in inquisition because they know their previous games sex scenes were funny because they were trying to be serious.

Yeah..from what i see in this topic, not everyone who wrote in this topic played The Witcher 2.

This actually reminds me on that stupid women who went on some tv show cause of Mass Effect sex scenes, and in the end she said that she didn't even see the scenes, someone talked to her about them.
People, if you didn't play the game, please refrain from saying things like - It has **** scenes so that horny dudes can jack it, and then collect cards afterwards.

I did not say that last line, but to be fair, there is not a lot of "romance" in the Witcher 2. The two more fleshed out romances are Triss, and its not all that fleshed out and you will not entirely get it unless you have read the books. Then theres a blond haired woman I cant quite remember the name of, but you only get her if you side with Roche, and I personally always side with Iorveth, the other romances are really just quick sex scenes. I love the Witcher games but from my personal perspective, Geralt having sex with anyone other than Triss or Yennefer seems wrong, both of their stories are fleshed out and it makes sense for him to be in love with one of them. Having random sex with a woman because you saved her just seems to go against Geralts character in the books and in some sense, the game.

You didn't, but there are actually 4-5 people who posted things in this context and i copy pasted one of their sentences here.
In Witcher 2 there is actually only 1 quicky scene for that woman you saved from burning building and that's all.
But romance with Triss is pretty well done if you played first game, no need for book, but if you go Yennefer way, you can see the guy actually in love without the girl even present in game.
I am very interested in how is gonna play out in Witcher 3. Is it possible that she also has memory loss?

It would be great if for a change if itwas the NPC showing interest in your character rather than your character always trying to get into everyone pants.

I am interested in how the Witcher 3 goes with romance, I think Triss is a bit annoyed at me since I went and saved Phillipa instead of Triss and in doing so ended up with the whole "lets kill all the non pures!" ending. I want to see if that makes a big impact, all the mages being tracked down and slaughtered, I just want the Witcher 3 to make the Witcher 2s choices mean something, to see if they can beat Bioware on that front or not.

There is more than one. There are prostitutes, a succubus, Philippa's 'recruit', and I think one more other random besides the burning building girl. I would count all of those as quickies. But, from my perspective, they weren't completely out of left field. No more different than the "This is madness! You're [insert epic title here.] This can't be real." vibes from Bioware games. It's nearly impossible to find romance arcs in a game that aren't some sort of fantasy fulfillment in one shade or another.

In any case, I am so stoked for Witcher 3.

Oh it certainly will be, thats what happens when you make a thread including both the Witcher and Dragon age, you end up talking about Dragon age, Witcher or arguing about which ones better, doesn't matter which of those three happens, the thread locks.

Triss shows interest in Geralt, shes pretty disappointed if you dont ask her to go to tag along to the elven baths also the elven girl you save asks Geralt to have sex without Geralt insinuating anything. And I think the sex goat thing asks Geralt to have sex but Im not sure.

Hehe...well i think it would be interesting if Bioware tries some kind of romance arc like that with Inquisition in DLCs and sequels. I think that they can do better then Ashley and Alenkos situation they put in ME.

P.S.
I totally forgot about succubus.

I was talking about inquisition. Every lady want to get into Geralt pants. I was more thinking about romance in inquisition. Dorian was actually flirting with you a lot even if you did not ( well if you initiated it at the beginning). He only stop when you start a romance with someone else lol.

Well then Id agree with you there but Id actually want Bioware not to do any romance for the next game and just use that extra time theyd have to work on the plot.

There was only one romance in Witcher 2 - Triss. In the last act of Witcher 2 you can truly roleplay that relationship - you as a player know perfectly well that Triss will be saved from Nilfgaardians even if you don't come to her aid, but as Geralt you can still choose to save her, because well, she is the only thing that matters to him and damn all the politics and magic elves from another world.

Actually, Bioware would do well to learn from Witcher, and weave the romances into the main plot, make them more than just talking -> gettig sex -> kissing for the rest of the game, but alas.

Witcher 2. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt won't be released until February, though I'm sure they'll keep doing what they're doing.

I said it, because that's exactly what there is for "romance" in the Witcher 1.

If that's an example of how your company thinks of women, then I have no need to play any of your other games.

A lot of people here seem to be too invested in the romance part of the game.

Honestly, if all you're going to do is spooge over how awesome the Witcher is, and how **** BioWare is (even though, you know, The Witcher 3 isn't even out yet), mayhap it's best to do it on the appropriate forums.
