And the templar order turn into violent paranoid crazies by having red lyrium next to them, which happens to grow like weeds.
Except that never happens, nice try though.

And after the breach is closed you have the entire templar order united under your command, which is extremely helpfull against demons. Mages are a bunch of unorganized rebels and at least half of them would probably get possessed somehow. The other half probably uses blood magic....
After the breach is closed, as a mage, it is in my best interests that the templar order no longer exists and / or has any influence.

Send them to the hinterlands, the stormcoast, the exalted plains, the emerald graves, the western approach or the hissing wastes. Plenty of demons, almost no red lyrium. A lot of demons though.
That must be why those who chose the Templars can't complete the game... Oh wait...
Sure you can, just lore wise, it's not as efficient.

Killing demons are easy. Grey wardens can kill demons. Killing abusive mages is what a sect is required for.

Yes, so nobody can judge you for the vile things mages do when they think they're not seen by anyone.
WHat does the mage poath give me? A crappy character called Fiona, a horrible second in command to ELder One who is interesting as tissue paper and a boring faction.
What does the templars give me? Ser ****** Barris, an interesting second in command and a faction that works well.
Such a hard choice.

Like I care if someone disagrees.

The words of a blood mage, no doubt. Your day will come.

Oh yeah the day will come, a day when there will be no one that is able to oppose me.
Except that never happens, nice try though.
Are the Red Templars just not a thing now?

I KNEW IT
I sided with the mages. Not sure if it breaks the lore, but I think it was an awesome quest...one of the story highlights of the game for me. I don't think I can bring myself to ever side with the templars, mostly because of the consequences.
Both sides have consequences.
I know at least two...
Flemeth isn't immortal. Solas was "asleep," as were those other elves. Cory is immortal due to the Blight.

Come little templar

Non-mage wardens can't be immortal as far as I know. Not sure Avernus would have a limit. Also mages of old could live for as much as they pleased before they decided they wanted to go sleep.

Today, homeslice. I said alive today.
Do you still get Dorian as a companion if you choose to approach the templars for support?
Side with the Templars, their mission shits all over the mage one in terms of quality.
And the templars gives us...

Ser Barris the badass
First templar to party on the streets of Val Royeaux and the last to leave.

What consequences? That Fiona gets killed? Knowing the **** she tries to do, i'd say getting impaled on a greatsword is exactly what she deserves.

Yes. He replaces Coles role.
Both join like bosses too. Dorians was featured in the EoT trailer, I believe.
