Well, I like Fiona (not my favorite, but I like her), that's why I don't really want to kill her. And I sympathise with the mages too much.
Nothing justifies locking mages up!!!
Oh, siding with Tevinter? That was totally necessary!

I chose mages because I think the mage situation seems much more urgent, and my character wouldn't know that only one of the two factions could be chosen. I'm trying to avoid metagaming.
Also, Fiona is Alistair's mother and it seems harsh to just let her become enslaved.
What does her being his mother mean? It means nothing at all for this fiasco. If Alistair found out that was his mom he probably even more disgusted by her actions.

My elf mage actually went with the templars. I actually foun that story to be better than the mages. Finally, I felt sorry for the templars, I actually hope they can become what they once were
Indeed
I don't know if it was necessary, but it was understandable given her current situation.
No it's really not. Ser Barris does not make excuses for what his officers did. He even takes full responsibly for the corruption the templars have, Ser Barric takes responsibility, Fiona does not, she says she's sorry then turns around and tries to argue that she had no choice. It's a cop out, and why Based Ser Barris is the best.

What really made it hit home was that Ser Barris, someone who didn't even do anything, takes responsibility for what has happen. He does not suger coat it, he does not bullshit. He states it as it is and tries to sttone for the mistakes his offers and fellow brother and sisters did. That is a good character. Not Fiona who was just asking to get stabbed with a sword.
Today, homeslice. I said alive today.
How do you know? Was possible then, what's stopping from being possible now, nothing really changed.

More like Behemoth Ser Barris.
There is no better side just pick the side which feels right to you both sides have their negatives and positives. I prefer hushed whispers since it was a huge real role play moment for my dwarf.

I don't buy it.
They were given refuge in Redcliffe, one of the most definsible places in Ferelden. If the Templars truly were that insane to attack them, they could have weathered the storm in the castle and wait for the Ferelden army to come to their rescue.
Nah, let's sell just sell the entire population out to Tevinter instead!

Or pick a more useful force.

I don't assume presence until it is shown.

You think what Solas says and writings about immortal elves are a lie?
Go Templars, bro. Ser Barris is a cool dude.
Quite apart from my obvious political views, the choice is between "investigate the templars who are acting like dicks" vs. "investigate the Tevinter cult calling themselves the Hunters who are obsessed with me and can warp time." It doesn't seem difficult.

Lol, Ferelden army defending mages in the middle of a war where mages are seen as bloodthirsty terrorists. That's cute.
I remember reading a few threads where people were hating on Fiona and thinking it was overboard because I hadn't read the books...then I met her and suddenly it all became clear.
In case somebody is still making the choice and isn't looking for a sermon why all templars/mages are horrible:
Even though both quests are very well done, I personally enjoyed the mage quest more. I also got the feeling that the loot is better, but that might be chance.
If you like Leliana's darker side, then mage quest is amazing. You will never see a darker Leliana than here.
I liked Champions of the Just as a mission a lot more, had a Red Wedding vibe and no time travel is always a plus
Funny, that is how I would describe it actually. Or rather, it felt like a Red Wedding like scenario if the heroes managed to avoid the trap, if barely, it's still a massacre that happens there and lots of good people die.

Are you being serious right now? Alistair/Anora invited them into Ferelden after the war started and protected them up until they sold Redcliffe citizens to Tevinter,

Yeah that's the reason why my dwarf decided to investigate the mages did not want to metagame it.

I had the biggest grin on my face when Viv said that she should have been relegated to gardening.
investigate why The Lord Seeker is acting unusual, then things spiral out of controlQuite apart from my obvious political views, the choice is between "investigate the templars who are acting like dicks" vs. "investigate the Tevinter cult calling themselves the Hunters who are obsessed with me and can warp time." Again, that doesn't really stack up to "Tevinter time-warping cultists" in "things to be concerned about."

Relegating Vivienne to gardening would be nice.
