Unless there's a book I haven't read that gives Templars godlike powers, I'm going to go by what we see in DAII (which has an unreliable narrator) and Origins (which does not) and say "because they aren't."

Cassandra says Seekers are immune. Seekers are not Templars in any shape or form.

Ok, the spirit LENDS their power to the seeker without possessing them, that can happen too. 
What I don't understand is what makes them so powerful, it's just a mundane with some spirit powers, any mage abomination would trump that, many mages are more powerful than particular fade entities as well.
