Ok, the spirit LENDS their power to the seeker without possessing them, that can happen too. What I don't understand is what makes them so powerful, it's just a mundane with some spirit powers, any mage abomination would trump that, many mages are more powerful than particular fade entities as well.

They perform a year long vigil that summons an extremely powerful Spirit of Faith. This clears the tranquility and gives them their powers. Because reasons. And it's absolutely glorious. I assume cured mages are even more powerful, but they're too emotionally unstable to handle it, so they're usually killed right away.

Nope. Just reasons. The Cure doesn't actually make you possessed.

Pretty sure they are possessed. Cure for tranquility is possession. Take Pharamond, he was possessed and Wynne and company enter the Fade to kill the spirit possessing him. Lucius even calls themselves abominations.

How would a cured mage be more powerful than a regular mage? What about going through tranquility makes it special?

Surely gaining a benefit from a spirit / demon is different than merely being cured? Surely being possessed would give an even greater edge. 

Can't you JUST summon the spirit to touch you without being tranquil? There were these spirit warriors back in DA:O, how are say seekers different from spirit warriors?

We know that any spirit that leaves the Fade becomes maddened and violent, cole being the exception. Let's say that a spirit did appear in front of a Tranquil and assuming it reversed the Rite, it would have to either possess to remain sane or remain mad and attack. Solas said it himself, spirits can only survive by attaching themselves to something in the mortal world. We know that they can't possess or even see a tranquil via dreams since tranquil connection is cut from the fade. So that leaves only drawing the spirit out through a rift and sicking them on a Tranquil who will possess it just to survive.
