I absolutely love this game! Having a great time exploring the world and story. The only thing I miss from previous games is the Desire Demon encounters. They were always fun! Please add in a Desire Demon in future DLC Bioware
We need a female demon, imo. I love the succubus archetype, DAO and DA2's Desire Demons were awesome, please bring them back looking like that in the new engine ![]()
No Desire Demons?

There is a desire demon in this game. Just not using the same model. It's the Forbidden One from TME, Imshael.
Imshael is not really a Desire Demon though. It defies qualification. Gaxkang and Xebenkeck too.

So do most of the really powerful demons. The fact that they can stretch their power source doesn't mean they don't die all the same.

This. The four forbidden ones can't really be defined as a type since two of them can change forms and Xebenkeck is considered a male which means the desire demon form we saw was probaly a guise.

Michel who already knew who he was gave him that classification. There's also no such thing as a "desire demon" form. Not in this game anyway. What he looks like doesn't matter, it's the source of his power. The more you can stretch it, the more powerful you are. I'll go on considering him to be a just a really powerful desire demon.

Even if it was considered female (though the sex of a demon seems pointless since they are all formless) I'd chalk the appearance of Xebenkeck up to placeholder, since they weren't going to waste resources designing a unique mesh and texture for an optional boss.
But yeah, these four demons in particular have become so powerful, and so complex, that they now encompas a vast variety of human emotion.

Yeah but I really want those hot Desire Demon's back tbh, lol. And an incubus form would be awesome too! ![]()

They didn't bother trying since they knew they couldn't top I Like Big Boats and I Cannot Lie.

Not sure if Imshael is one or not. Conversation suggests it is. Certainly acts like it might be. Maybe a spirit or choice gets corrupted into desire, or maybe the whole spirit of choice is just a lie.

Maybe because we can't make a deal with demons this time ? But we can (sorta) make a deal with an ancient elven god and slip tongue to another. Which I both did.

Technically, you can make a deal with Imshael. I did it just to see what would happen - then I reloaded and offed him (smarmy bastard that he was).

Whatever form, whatever vice they represent matters not. Every demon, great and small, will share the same fate.

They took out the desire daemons to get you to try harder for juicy romance seans with companions.

What does he give you?
(Also, what's the reward for the wealth bit? Or power?)

For power he just drops what he drops when you kill him. I'm not sure on the wealth bit, but I doubt it would be anything substantial.

I don't know anything about Bioware's design process, but a lot (they're hardly a cohesive group) of feminists complained about the desire demons, so I guess Bioware caved. I hardly noticed TBH though.
(And by feminists I mean over privileged High School/College aged girls, who took a one semester class in sociology, and now think they know everything there is to know about the world, Which they then share on their Tumblr blog.)
edit: And why do I suddenly feel guilty for posting this? Also would a male form be that difficult? I'm pretty sure that would shut everyone up.

I noticed the lack of desire demons, too. Also noticed a lack of the classic Abomination, which seemed odd to me. Figure they'd be able to re-skin the Red Templar Horror as an abomination easily enough.

They wanted to move away from the Abominations as a "filler enemy", so that when we face an Abomination again, it will actually do justice to how the lore build them up.

Fair enough, I just figured there were points in the game where that could have been done.
Oh well, I look forward to seeing them in DLC, then.

Imshael definitely seemed to be a desire demon in the game, though he wasn't in the books. I'd say he was a choice demon in the books (demon, not spirit, due to his actions), but talk to him at all in game and he offers things a desire demon would. Albeit he does it much more awkwardly and it's so obviously not something that you would want to do that my mind boggles at it. Seriously, Imshael? You can't do better than vague possible rewards? I was like: Okay I heard what you had to offer, now die.
