I'm very curious as to when and how the Wicked Grace cutscene is trigger.  Is it after a certain point in the main story plot?  Do all the companions' approvals need to be high enough to trigger it?  And do I need to complete all of their quests?

I'm definitely planning on doing all the companion quests but I'm also afraid that if one or a couple of the companions keep disapproving of my decisions, then this cutscene won't trigger.

Right after Varrics personal quest with Bianca

It's tied into Varric's approval/friendship arc. I also got it right after his personal quest.

Cassandra certainly doesn't.

I would liked to have seen this in DA2 but it's probably my favourite scene in the game. Leave it to Varric to bring everyone together.

Oh, he knows. He's just lousy at it.

Cass, on the other hand, doesn't even know the rules.

Mine triggered after I finished up with the Red Lyrium quest. Mind, I did finish the Bianca quest first. I think you need to complete two personal quests to trigger it.

so, I have to choose the grey warden instead of hawke in the veil to fight the monster,  otherwise I'll loose a lot of varric's approval, right?

it's not necessary. It triggered for me despite leaving Hawke. I sided with Varric a lot in his fight with Cassandra (she hated me that game; it made for an interesting dynamic), and then destroyed a lot of red lyrium with him at my side, resulting in a lot of approval. Eventually got the Wicked Grace scene.

After you complete Varric's personal quest (Bianca) he will invite you to play Wicked Grace (it's like Poker). Depending on who remained as your companions, or if you left some behind, you won't get everyone at the table, and Solas, Leilana and Viv never join no matter what.

Unlike other companion interactions, it will still trigger after you defeat Corypheus.    First run I didn't do the Varric/Bianca quest until near the end and then didn't click on him until after the final battle.    It actually worked out rather well because my girl was feeling really depressed about Solas leaving her and so it was like Varric had arranged the game just to cheer her up.

I think you may have to have a certain level of approval with Cassandra for her to take part.    On subsequent runs I have triggered it earlier in the game and she isn't there but if I make sure I have done her personal quests then usually she is.

I think companions don't show up unless you do their quests.

No. Neither does Vivienne.

No, I was able to trigger this cutscene before doing Blackwall or Iron Bull's quests, and they showed up.
