I read somewhere that the D-pad left or right arrow was a shortcut to pull up your map, but they don't seem to do anything for me. Is there any hotkey or do I have to go through the menu every time?

 

For the record, I'm playing on PC using a PS3 controller with software (Motionjoy) to let me use it, but it is being recognized as an Xbox controller.

 

It seems a little odd that I can't use my mouse or keyboard whatsoever after setting the controls to a controller. I.E. If I unplug my controller, or don't have it plugged in before booting up DA:I I have to alt+f4 the game because it's impossible for me to navigate the menus. Or that I can't just tap M on my keyboard for the map.

Well nevermind that. I'm abandoning the controller. The game has awkward controls on PC, but it's even clumsier with a controller. Anything you can do with keyboard and mouse in a single click or single tap of a key, you have to hold triggers, navigate menus, etc. Forget that.
