I have a shield called Wintersbreath: 26 Armour rating, Level 18 Unique Shield which adds 100% damage you receive from ALL sources.
Therefore any damage recieved is doubled, all my defensive stats are now big negative instead of small posatives.
Why would anyone want to use at item them makes you easy to kill, or am I missing something here?
(I didn't notice the "adds" damage text when I equiped it and sold my other shields. ARGH!)
A shield with the Berserk enhancement on it? You should also do 10% more damage...either way I find it to be one of the most ridiculous masterwork enhancements if not the most. Even a crummy 8 armor shield with the Fade-touched Obsidian enhancement (On Hit - Gain 3 Guard) is better than that thing. 
If you remember who you sold the shields to, they should still have them in the buyback section.
It's OK, I read a post on good equipment and found a seller (in Skyhold) who sold me a better shield so I am happy again now. But that proc is mad. I also saw (from same seller) a 2H with 20% inflict more dmg and recieve 200% more damage. Not sure how many front line soldiers want to take 200% more damage so they can inflict 20% more. (It's not like an ability that can be used to finish off a mob, its a perma action that's on the whole time.)
