I'm guessing no one has actually managed to get this quest successfully that we know of?

Just wonder if I should even bother even though its definitely bugged.  Two playthroughs and never seen anything from Solas in terms of this.   :(

Yeah, as far as I have seen no one has actually triggered this quest. It's too bad, as Solas is my favourite companion and I want all the content he has, even if it's just one more line.

Just throwing in my two cents reagard Solas' approval. He has given me some approval for activating artifacts but not every artifact I activated with him near me has triggered any approval. Is it possible that no approval is gained after he's "max approval" and that's why you guys aren't seeing an approval gain him? Also, there are some dialog lines that you're supposed to gain approval from him that I didn't see an approval gain. I assumed it was a "max approval" thing, or is this another bug thing? I'm also missing All New, Faded for Her from my completed quests lists and never got What Lies Dormant.

As far as I know I have never gotten approval from him for activating them. I haven't actually replayed the beginning of this game since I realized you should gain approval from it, but I'm fairly certain that he never approved of any of them. Possibly the first one where he straight out tells you to go into that elven place and activate it, but not the second, third, or any others. So either he really liked me that early in the game or it's somehow bugged, and personally it seems odd to gain max approval with him that quickly.

Ok i'm stuck with this too.

Firstly, I came from the edges of the map and went there first so i didn't see all the bodies, but the one that made him go 'no, no no NO!'.   Then we saw the demon and no cutscene happened.  We then looked and saw other bodies that were examined though only 'arrow shot down mage' was said so i donno if it was triggered.

Since then there has been no cutscene and i have thorogly swept through over and over to the point that most other quests have done.

when near permaniter he mentions the arrow shot down mage but never moves on, the bodies don't get examined and the demon is there with no interaction.  At one point there were soldiers there and the demon was within a trebuchet showing that the game isn't fully recognising the demon as there.  To further this evidence if my characters who follow the primary character follow me and run into the demon, the demon is moved out of the way.

Also noticed that the quest when set active doesn't show the quest and the quest objective to find the demon is greyed out suggesting that the system either doesn't recognise it or believes it to be done.  I need to refresh it but not sure how.

I've tried going back without solas to see if that would refresh it and it does get rid of the demon and the crystals but putting solas back there does nothing.  Neither does going there playing as Solas (as this worked with another scene with the pub in fereldan with Damion).

Well, I'm also reporting the Solas' bug as well.  For awhile, I was getting approval from him when click on the artifacts (which never show up as a loot ping, but that's another complaint for another time.)  Then approval gains stopped happening and I've lost count at how many of those I've gotten by now.  I know my affection with him is pretty good (I was getting decent gains with him up til a few quests after Wicked Hearts,) but I haven't been able to do anything to trigger the next part of his personal quest after Faded For Her.

It's frustrating, because I'm at the third to last main quest of the game.  Along with some last minute dragon hunting and zone crawls (only have the Oasis and Hissing Wastes left,) I'm trying to get the rest of the companion and adviser quests done.   I'm a little relieved to read that it is a bug and that I haven't screw things up somehow.   Since I know some patches are due out very soon (I think the first for PC is out tomorrow/later today,) I really hope this is on the "to-do" list.  These are the kind of bugs that can kill the game.

I managed to get Sera's quest done, with just the two of us.  I searched on my hubby's computer to see if Sera's quest was bugged, and it directed me here.  Thanks BSN, for saving me a lot of hassle.  I make saves before I start companion quests, so thankfully I didn't lose much progress.

I also put it off for a loooong time, so I was level 22 with the level 11 mobs.  Two archers had that covered.   I did have to reload once, due to the no NPC spawn bug on that quest.

That's the censored version what I said.  And what my character said too during a certain companion's personal quest.

I wanted to directly quote what my inquisitor said in the fade but alas the forum would have censored it :D

You're not alone. :P

It's weird to say, but I guess I feel better knowing it's a straight up bug versus me doing something wrong.

I thought his romance was weirdly sparse but I assumed there would be more later. Looks like that playthrough is going on the shelf for a while :pinched:

That was my thoughts as well.   I know that I've got another 10-15 hours left in my game, which would put it at the 90 hour mark, but I was planning my next playthrough.  Now I'm torn between my human female warrior or rolling up a different elf mage.  I have an elf mage for the Solas romance, but I'm probably going to shelve her until after this is fixed.  I'm waiting for more of the bugs in general to get smoothed out before I play my male (gay) warrior.

I think I'm going to try either human circle mage and romance Cullen, or dwarven greatsword weilder and romance Blackwall next.

Ah man, I'm not sure whether I want it to have more Solas dialogue or not. On the bright side, yay more. On the down-side, it's bugged and that might take a while to fix which is infuriating.

Darn, looks like this particular bug isn't getting fixed with today's patch (link), unless I missed something.

Indeed, real shame this quest was not fixed in today's patch. Wonder if it was cut?

Well now i've further broke the game.

I recently found after this update that happened that even though i didn't do the cutscene, i could still harm the demon and the pillars using the AoE attacks like Blizzard.  So i destroyed all the pillars hoping that would correct the game...It did not.

Now the cutscene attempts to happen but i end up with a black screen where if i click i can attack but only attack (sounds), and after the load nothing happens.  It's completely buggered.

Also reporting the missing entry for All New, Faded for Her in completed quests. Not gotten 'What lies dormant' at all either, and I'm just before 'What pride has wrought'.

From everything I can gather, this quest simply doesn't trigger at all and "Faded For Her" doesn't appear to have stayed in anyone's completed quest log.  No footage of it anywhere, and nothing but the barest bones descriptions of it.

I've hit the same main quest you have Neko, and I'm at 75 hours in.   I'm hoping this will be addressed in Patch 3.

I seriously think that the third quest not triggering is somehow related to "Faded for Her" not showing up in the journal after completion. I don't think the quest was cut; I think it's just a glitch with the quest log. I was hoping it would be fixed in yesterday's patch, too. :( I know that other people have already reported it, but I feel that maybe I should add my two cents and report it to Bioware's Twitter feed. Quest and dialogue bugs are some of the most annoying ones I've encountered, and I really want access to the quest content. Solas has so little dialogue content compared to my other characters; my inquisitor really just wants to talk to him, but he just has nothing to say to her....even after they got all romantic. Maybe he's just shy. LOL.

Sure, it might be a good idea to report it to the official @dragonage account (I know I read that Mike Laidlaw and Mark Darrah aren't in the office anyway and to report all issues to the official DA account).

I know, it would be worth it to just get an extra line or two from our favourite elusive elf. :)

So this has been said before, but obviously most people missed it: what lies dormant is Solas' second quest, or a continuation Measuring the Veil. All New, Faded for Her is his THIRD quest.

To unlock it, first you need to complete Measuring the Veil, then activate 10 elvhen artifacts with him present, which SHOULD, if things are going correctly, unlock the war table mission Measure Veil Strength. For me, just like the rest of you, that hasn't happened. The only suggestion I've found that might work is to not shut down the rifts near Redcliffe Farms before this point. Which would make navigating that whole area frustrating. I have yet to have the time to try this (still finishing a playthrough), so no promises. Going to try it next time though. Hopefully it works.

If that's the case, then having All New, Faded for Her not showing up in list of completed quests wouldn't be the problem I guess.  But I think What Lies Dormant would likely occur after ANFFH for most players, as ANFFH triggers immediately after getting to Skyhold (for me, at least), which means that it is unlikely that anyone would have activated 10 artifacts by then.  So while it might theoretically be the second quest, most people would probably be completing it after ANFFH. I haven't tested the Redcliffe rift thing, but hopefully all gets fixed in Patch 3.

I had only seen it referred to as his third quest. I don't know what the issue is with it triggering then if it's not related to the journal status of "Faded for Her." *shrugs*

I tweeted at @dragonage with a bug report - however, I talked about 'all new, faded for her' not being marked as completed as well. Hopefully they'll see it and put it in the next patch.

Also, what do the Redcliffe Farms rifts have to do with it? (I'm slightly worried since I just closed them all)
