Yeah...I have a zillion elven artifacts and no dice on the quest for me. ;(
Does he have to be in the party for them to count toward it, maybe?

I tweeted at @dragonage with a bug report - however, I talked about 'all new, faded for her' not being marked as completed as well. Hopefully they'll see it and put it in the next patch.
Also, what do the Redcliffe Farms rifts have to do with it? (I'm slightly worried since I just closed them all)
Thanks for doing that! Let us know if they reply ![]()
As for the Redcliffe thing, people were suggesting that you deal with the rift behind Redcliffe farms in the What Lies Dormant quest... so if you closed it prematurely then the quest will never trigger. I don't think that anything has been confirmed though, as far as I know.

Could be, but I had Solas in my party like 99% of the time, so he was there when I activated my 17 (or 18 now) elven artifacts and nothing triggered. ![]()
Crap. I didn't even know he had a third quest. No wonder I felt like he had content missing. ![]()
Aw, man. :/ super bummed to hear that it's bugged. I thought I just miscounted the artifacts, but I just noticed "All new, faded for her" doesn't show as completed. I think that might be what's causing it, maybe. Either way, here's hoping it's fixed in the next patch!
Just checked my completed quests, too, and "All New, Faded for Her" isn't there... and I definitely completed it.
I didn't even know he had a SECOND quest, let alone a third.
I have done everyone's personal quest but Solas doesn't seem to have any other than the Hinterlands artifact thing. I don't even remember if I did his second quest or not, as it's not showing in my journal.
I've activated so many of his artifacts already.
Do we know for sure that this quest is actually supposed to be in the game? Where did the information about it come from if it has never triggered for anyone? Could it be something that was removed from the game and will be added back in later as we explore more of Solas' story in the wake of the post credits scene?
I ask because my girlfriend got the official game guide for DAI, and it makes no mention of this quest at all.
I know it's on the Dragon Age Wiki. I thought somebody posted previously that it was in the guide. If it's not in the guide, then maybe it was cut, but it just feels like Solas is lacking in content compared to my other companions.
Hmmm. I haven't looked in the guide book myself, I just took her word for it that this quest wasn't mentioned. Maybe she just overlooked it.
I don't actually have the guide myself, but I have heard two or three different people who do mention that it is in fact in there. And it really must be, I don't know how we would have found out about it otherwise.
Even if it isn't in the guide that means nothing.
From what I've heard, some wartable missions are not in that guide either.
Oh and... It still doesn't change the fact that upon solving it, "All new, faded for her" disappears completely from your journal which is a bug.
The only thing noone tried yet was to leave the rift behind Redcliff farms alone untill "All new, faded for her" is completed.
I've been having a bug where the rational, thoughtful Solas turns into a freak at the end of the game. Anyone else experienced this?

The point of whether it's in the guide or not was this: How do we know about this quest at all? If it has literally never triggered for any player ever, then how did the OP even know about its existence? I'm not trying to discredit the OP at all, I'm just curious as to whether this quest is supposed to be in the game right now at all or if it was something that got cut. If it's mentioned in the guide, fine. Question answered. If it's not, then where did the information about this quest even come from originally and how do we know it's actually supposed to be in the game?

No, but that's a different quest. The fact it is never marked as complete may not even be relevant. I got Cassandra's final quest while still working on a previous quest for her. In other words, there is precedent in the game itself establishing the fact that completing all of the companion's previous quests is not necessarily a requirement for starting said companion's next quest.

OP here. I saw it listed as a quest online first. As I said previously in the thread, I then tweeted at Patrick Weekes (Solas' writer) asking how to trigger What Lies Dormant. He helpfully responded that I needed to activate 10 or so elven artifacts. So we know for sure that the quest exists. I told Patrick that it still didn't trigger, so he's aware of the issue.
Just to make a more formal note of it to BioWare (and to not overrun specific devs with tweets) I wanted to make this thread too.

Cool, thanks for the info.
I also borrowed the official guide from my GF. I see why she thought that the quest wasn't in it at first. There's a quest index at the back of the book that is supposed to list all side quests in the game, but this one is not there. However, if you flip to the section of the guide that covers the Inner Cirlce quests you'll find it on page 309. Here's what it says:
The measuring devices are scattered across Ferelden and Orlais, and we've marked them on locale maps throughout the Exploration chapter. If Solas is in your party when you find and activate them, you gain approval. Should you find at least 10 of the devices, you can unlock a war table operation: Measure Veil Strength. Complete the operation, and you'll hear word from Solas about the location of a Fade rift that has yet to open. Go to the designated location in the Hinterlands behind the Redcliffe Farms, and prepare for a fight to seal the rift. This is a high-level fight, so be prepared for some very tough demons!
That's verbatim. So according to the official guide the triggers for this quest are:
- Complete the Measuring the Veil quest for Solas in the Hinterlands
- Complete the Measure Veil Strength war table operation
The completion status of All New, Faded for Her does not appear to be relevant. Or at least, it's not supposed to be.
I don't remember if I got the war table operation in my previous game, but I know that I did it in my current one. Still no new quest from Solas. I also get no approval from him for activating any of these devices.
I will see if leaving the rifts around the Hinterland farms works, as I'm re-running my mage. Will report back with the results when I can.
Huh. I think I know exactly which rift the guide is referring to. I tried tackling it early on and gave up. Glad I didn't close it, since it appears to be part of this bugged out quest. Now I know to wait a bit for more info.
I have no idea if I've activated 10 devices or not! I wasn't keep track and apparently neither is the game, in any way I can see anyway. I've been having all these great interactions with everyone with all their quests and meanwhile Solas has been so stoic to me despite the romance. I'm kind of glad it's a bug and I didn't mess up or something... I really hope this can get fixed. Listening to Solas talk about the Fade and elven stuff has been really interesting so I want to know what else he has to say. Especially if its completion has an effect on the outcome of the romance. :\

I think the rift in question should not appear before this quest... Apparently, it is a rift that has yet to open.
Hey, same problem here... finishing up most side missions now and that quest is stuck. Demon is there but unresponsive, and Solas won't shut up about arrows
I'm on Xbox One
I haven't gotten it either. =[
Solas personal quest bugged.
Dorian personal quest bugged.
Great. Just great.
I wish there was a way to find the war table quests that were done. Also, wish the game guide was a bit more helpful in the companion quests. I don't mind figuring it out on my own, but at least have an idea of some kind so I know if I think it's bugged.
I make it a mission to talk to EVERYONE at Skyhold every time I get back from doing whatever.
Glad it's not me and a few others. Maker speed on the patches.
I'm thinking even Solas' first personal quest is bugged for me. I haven't seen the one that's supposed to trigger when you first go to the Hinterlands. Is that all it takes? Just go to the Hinterlands and there it is?
I'm trying not to close any fade rifts in the Hinterlands for now just in case I mess up the chance to get his last quest.
So... I saw this post BEFORE playing with my elf and I did everything like it is posted on http://grimsolas.tum...ing-on-with-the
20h so far, aaaand- voilà: NO damned SECOND quest with Solas and the veil, and NO sign of completing "all new, faded for her"!
Seems like I have to play my female Qunari warrior romancing Iron Bull first... *sigh*
I swear if Cullen and his quests were bugged... ![]()
