GAHHHH, I was hoping that the last patch (which I got later anyway for XOne) would have fixed this!

That's another playthrough stalled because, damnit, even if I wasn't romancing Solas he's pretty integral to the plot so having one of his quests bugged is a pretty big 'Opps!'. And because I just can't leave stuff undone!

And it's pretty strange that the only fix anyone seems to have found is leaving the rifts at the farm open - getting horses for the inquisition is pretty much the next quest after talking to Mother Giselle, along with getting rid of the Templars and Mages, but how are you supposed to put up the watchtowers and deal with the demon-possessed wolves with fade rifts spewing demons out at you!?

I wonder how this patch will work post-game... I mean, I don't want to put off ever completing my Nightmare playthrough for an indefinite fix, but I want to obviously 100% it.

That quest seems to be broken. It does not trigger, no matter how much approval you got, regardless you closed waterfall rift or not, romanced with Solas, did his previous quest line or even collecting all elven artefacts having Solas in party. It just need to be fixed,

I hope the devs fix this soon, I'm on 2nd playthrough so I don't really want to just start a new one, but I don't want to keep playing when a huge chunk of my storyline is missing :(  I need more quality time with my elven boyfriend before he dumps me, ok?!

According to a few sites this quest eventually heads to the war room for some reason.... Either wiki, ign or one of the other sites. It did go into some detail and confirmed when and how many to trigger.

On playthrough 8 (my final one.) As a fem elf. Not one time has this triggered... Also noted Dorian's 'quest ' is male only... Suchs you need to do so many to see all sides.

Do you mean his personal quest that deals with his family?  That triggered for me just fine on my lady Cadash.

I'm on PC and am also experiencing the same problem with this quest.

I'm also worried that I might be missing out on some Solas dialogue because I just watched a video showing that he has something to say about what happened after the final romance scene with him and before the final battle. All he ever said to me is "Inquisitor". Is anyone else on PC NOT getting this bit of conversation and has anyone on PC actually gotten that conversation? (not to mention Iron Bull never speaks to me AT ALL at skyhold)

I love this game so much and the Solas/Lavellan romance so much XC I just don't want to be missing out.

So, to the people who have romanced Solas from start to finish already, do you think it's worth starting a new inquisitor to romance him if one of his quests is bugged and we're quite possibly missing some potential Solas romance-related interactions because of it? I just started an elf inquisitor last night with the sole intentions of romancing him, but after seeing this thread, I'm two minded about even playing her right now if the existing romance/interactions are kind of lacking.

I guess it depends on how fast you play? I've got a 40hr playthrough that I've stalled at 'Wicked Hearts and Wicked Eyes' because sometime after that point is where I feel 'What Lies Dormant' would fit in, it also depends on when BW might actually address the issue (I recall the fact that Fenris' dialogue from 'Legacy' NEVER. GOT. FIXED).

Personally? I've given up on my ElfQuisitor until this gets dealt with, which is probably going to be in the new year. And it had better get fixed.

Hmm... well, I do play kind of fast at times, but I wouldn't mind stopping my play and waiting for a fix as long as I know which point would be best to stop at; I don't want to accidentally play past a certain point in the plot and end up screwing myself over when I find out I've ran out of time to trigger Solas' third quest (providing they even fix it so we can trigger it - which I hope they do!).

But yeah, you're right. I don't think we'll see them doing much until after the New Year. Ah well.. fingers cross! I really want to experience the Solas romance and his personal quests in its entirety.

Just thought I'd toss my hat into this. I, too, haven't seen this elusive third quest for Solas. I am shipping him, and just finished Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts. I completed All New, Faded For Her, but the followup quest did not trigger. I have spent time collecting 10 of the artifacts and no dice there, either. I am on my second playthrough. It also did not trigger on my first playthrough, though I was not shipping him then (not sure if that matters or not). When I do collect artifacts, I do get his audio clip, but no notification of approval increase.

If the link I read is correct, there's no way people are going to wait around to close the rifts on Redcliffe farms just to trigger this minor personal quest. In order to get the horses, there are quests in areas you have to travel to that are near rifts. I suppose it might be possible, but to be honest? Nobody should have to go through such extensive trouble and wait until completing his his other personal quests, just to trigger another quest. The only upside is that with as many artifacts as there are, I gain approval whenever he's with me.

Oh great, it's been a month since this thread was made and this STILL hasn't gotten fixed? "What Lies Dormant" still has not triggered for anyone even if you max his approval, activate all the elven artifacts, complete Measuring the Veil and All New, Faded For Her, and Wicked. Eyes and Wicked Hearts? Well, sh*t.

Ugh, I just completed Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts and am romancing him now. I love playing elves, don't mind replaying up to a certain amount and want to finish this game, so I guess I'll just note the current save time, play through the game, then when this gets fixed in the future I'll go back and complete his personal quest as I complete this playthrough of this game.

Or I can stop now, open a new game with a similar elven Inquisitor to romance someone else, play through the end with that character and just keep this game on standby until Solas' final quest finally gets fixed.

Either way, so annoying.

But let's clarify something, the order of the quests, is it:

1) Measuring the Veil

2) Measuring the Veil strength (completed on the war table)

3) All new faded for her, and,

4)  What lies dormant

Or should 2) and 3) in fact be flipped?

Also how do we know where we are? I , I did 1) and 2)  and managed to complete All new correctly yesterday,

and,

Er, uh oh... that sounds like the romance cut off at some point. He should definitely show up to dance. What he says as greeting depends on where he's standing in the room. Follow him around a bit. If he doesn't say "vhenan" or "my heart" at some point, yeah, you're probably friendzoned. Hope you've got a save so you can back up and try again.

Not sure but taking flirt lines with other NPCs might also cut the romance off. I did so judiciously and it didn't hurt anything but around the transition to Skyhold, stuff starts getting decided.

And yes, still have never gotten What Lies Dormant, ever.

The romance starts when he has the "did the anchor change you" conversation on the Inquisitor's balcony. If you didn't get the heart icon during that scene the romance has been locked out somehow. I locked it out by flirting with other characters in Skyhold too much, so I feel your pain.

Thanks for the replies guys! To reply to Shinny first... No, I didn't get that scene. So would I have gotten All new if he wasn't romanced at that time?

And, no, Addai, he's not calling me heart and such, damn!

Yes, I know I successfully completed All new faded for her despite it not showing up in the completed quest log because Blackwell expressed his condolences to Solas for his loss.

I am just trying to pinpoint the time to which I may have to roll back, it seems to be just after All new, but before Wicked eyes, right?

A further question on All new

I suppose if you haven't gotten the balcony scene it's possible it will still show up with the option of starting the romance. I did not get the balcony scene until after "All New," so yes, it will show up without the romance being active. I haven't heard of the scene occurring after Wicked Eyes, but if it's tied to approval rather than a strict timeline I suppose it could happen.

I don't have any advice on how far back to reload because I'm not sure why the balcony scene didn't trigger or if it will trigger in the future if you keep playing. This is outside my limited knowledge of his romance. Perhaps you will get better advice in the Solas thread?

Just wanted to say that I have been waiting forever for this particular quest to trigger and after 130+ hours and having Solas around 85% of the time, especially when activating the elven artifacts, it still hasn't triggered. I am also pretty sure I have his approval maxed, even though I haven't romanced him (human male rogue, here :P)!

Ok, I had to make my first post after reading these forums for so long :P

I started playing DAI the day it came out. Had a first PT as human female rogue and went on entirely with it till after Mythal's temple, when I discovered that I hadn't used the DA Keep so I was playing the default world state. Still finished that PT.
Then I made a new human female rogue using the correct world state etc and finished that. Romanced Cullen in both.

Now I made a female Lavellan to romance Solas ( <3) and today I stumbled upon this thread and something clicked in my mind...
I am almost 100% certain that I have seen that quest in my first PT! :( I vividly remember this exact quest name and I know it can't be my imagination :/ I also remember that I had the tracker showing correctly for the artifacts. I recall that at first I did not even understand what I was supposed to find because I hadn't paid much attention to Solas when he was talking and hadn't exactly understood what those spheres were. (Sorry Solas!).

Plus I recall the war table quest because it struck me that it had the same name of the actual quest. So I'm sure it was there!!

Sadly I cannot for the love of me remember anything about it :/ This is driving me insane!
That game save was deleted when I started the second one. Obviously in my second one this did not trigger, but I didn't even notice since I didn't remember that quest anyway.
Now I'm on the third PT and I'm about to reach Skyhold.. we will see what happens but I really doubt it will work, plus I have already closed all rifts in the Hinterlands just this morning before finding this thread. >.>

Things that I can remember about that PT are:
-  I was quite noob, I think I abandoned the Hinterlands immediately after talking to Dennett and didn't even completely recruit him until later on.. So I'm pretty sure I didn't touch any of the farm rifts.

- I had a default world save (but don't think this makes a difference).

- I never had Solas in my party basically (found him annoying at first :<)
- I don't think I did Measuring the Veil in the early stages of that PT, since Solas is required to be in the party for the elf to show up so I must have come back to do it at a later time...
- this was before any patch.. so maybe some patch that came out after has by mistake removed this quest?

Unfortunately I wasn't romancing him back then so I don't recall if there was any difference in what he says :/

However if you check the wiki and other pages, apparently this is just the name of the quest for collecting the artifacts, and does not have any impact on dialogues or romance.

"All new, Faded for her" has always shown up for me so I don't think they are related. I just think this is a quest with little importance like the other collecting ones (Viv, Blackwall) and that it will only get you approval rises. This would explain why I can't recall anything remotely important about it?

I do wish however this isn't true and that there might be more dialogue between Solas and Lavellan - but I think it was just a designer's choice to give him little romance content compared to others, and doubt something is missing :/

I'll keep following the thread in the hope they fix it soon so we can put our minds at rest! So bummed that this had to happen now that I *am* obsessed with Solas :P

Thanks for everyone's input! Sadly, from everyone's posts it still seems that the only way to potentially trigger this quest is to sacrifice a goat to the great demon, and howl (loudly)*.

Nothing has worked for me, and I've had playthroughs both pre and post-patch.  Still crossing my fingers that it gets fixed with an upcoming patch because every Solas line counts, right? :)

*from DA2 just in case; do not try at home

If it's any comfort to the rest of the sad Lavellans and everyone else who's curious to see more content from our favorite bald elf, according to my guide the mission doesn't appear to be hugely personal and character developing. If I remember correctly, it should start after you've activated an elven artifact (and not some arbitrary number but the first I think though maybe that got changed when the game was released, I'm going off the guide here) as a war table mission, that then leads you and Solas to go investigate an area where the veil is weak and fix it, so to speak. The prima guide also says it's a 'tough' battle, so...something else to chew on. But yeah, I hope that puts some of your minds at ease :) I was sad as well to be missing out on character content. Fingers crossed for the next patch!

I never realized Solas had any personal quests beyond "All New, Faded For Her". I never got Measuring the Veil or What Lies Dormant. And ANFfH also doesn't show in my completed quests, even though I finished it.

As I suspected.. today I did All new, Faded for her.. Basically the quest mark is there.. you arrive, see the cutscene, free the demon, and then he says he needs some time and he will meet you back at Skyhold.. and that's it, you don't get the notification that the quest is completed nor the sound that something completed. So it just disappears.

At this point I have no idea if it's Measuring the Veil the bugged one since it doesn't trigger a table mission, or ANFFH that doesn't complete and won't let you get the next one. :/
