While playing this "Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts'' quest I realised of all four instances of NPC characters in the background having spousal issue were all homosexual men, not one instance of a heterosexual couple. The Empress had a lesbian affair with servant Elf. Cullen (a straight character as I recall) was being hit on by a gay guy.

I think its a good thing when Bioware include homosexuality as a normal aspect without prejudice. However there is a point where they're deliberately trying to shove it down your throats, trying to promote Homosexuality to be accepted in in modern society (as it should be), but there's no need for this agenda to be pushed in a video game.

Or is it in the Lore that Orlesian parties are just full of Gays.

There's no agenda, that's just what they feel like doing, and what they feel fans will enjoy the most.

Why are homophobes so obsessed with getting things shoved down their throats?

Its called propaganda.

Instead of focusing on creating a 'fun' experience 'for all', BioWare's main push was to create a game for 'alternative' lifestyles.

There's something so dirty about the phrase 'shoving their gay agenda down our throats'.  Makes me giggle everytime the gay panic sets in and this is the immediate go-to phrase that people use.

Also, there were numerous straight people in the Court as well.  So, no, heterosexuality is not "non-existent" in the Orlesian Court......

ETA:  It's also not "propaganda".  My goodness people like throwing big words around tonight.

It's also the highest nobility of the Orlesian court. No offense, but frankly I wouldn't be surprised if every fetish and sexuality was somehow represented in everyone who attended that ball. They seem to be a lot more open than, say, those in Tevinter about these things - if we go by the issues that both Dorian and Krem bring up in conversations. Probably as a mark of pride too. "Did you hear? Those dirty people in Tevinter aren't okay with loving who you love or being the gender you feel is right. How disappointing. *fans self*" Actually, those two are the only instances where I can think of where someone's gender or sexual identity are an issue. Everywhere else, aside from preferences on an individual level it's nothing the populace works themselves up about. Which I frankly love.

Frankly I'm surprised you're not bringing up Dorian's personal quest - which while I loved smacked of a day time soap opera in places. It was a lot more heavy fisted there.

Cullen had more female admirers than male. I think it was supposed to be a Cullenite reference, I found it amusing.

I think Dorian is great, he's one my favourite characters. The difference is expectation, when I am doing someone's personal quest, I would expect it would reflect them.

I dont see how homosexuality is reflected by high Orlesian nobility??

Doesn't matter if there were two or three women.  There was ONE guy and he erased all of the heterosexuality in one big fabulous flash of gayness.  That's how it works.

Nothing wrong with that, whatever it is Bioware is trying to do. Sometimes, though, they may be trying too hard.

No no, not that. Sorry, poor wording on my part. My point is I got the feeling that they all seemed much more open about that, at the very least, as opposed to their own motives within the Great Game. Annnnnnd, there goes my foot. What I meant to say was that I liked the few quotes.

Dorian is also one of my favorites as well, I just really didn't like how the meeting with his father was handled. As someone who is bisexual it sort of felt... I don't know, forced to me? If that makes sense? But it does fit with his character, so in the end while I didn't enjoy it all that much I was at least happy something like that was in the game.

That would uld explain why everyone is so involved in 'the Game'. It all comes down to politics since no one can be bothered to continue the bloodline by bumping uglies with the other sex long enough to squirt out a legit heir.

Not sure how I feel about the Cullen scene since it may feed on the straight guys fear of guys hitting on them, like with the whole ordeal with Ander.

I tell ya what, go to a masquerade ball in a society that openly accepts homosexuality like the world of dragon age and you will find plenty of it, I personally don't care who someone chooses to spend their lives with, I got a choice why shouldn't everyone else?
