I just got done replaying Dragon Age Origins. I was hoping that in the week it took me to finish the game, Bioware would have released a patch or something to remedy some of the problems.. Sadly, this was not the case. I STRONGLY feel that the BioWare staff needs to all go back and play through the entire game again. I really think by doing this they will finally have that epiphany and be all, "Ohhhhh, right... That's why all the PC gamers are pissed at us. Got some fixing to do."

While replaying and enjoying that GREAT game I set myself up for more mental failure as I just came across more stuff that I LOVED about the first game so dearly, and was stripped away from me in Inquisition.

For Instance:

  • The Arcane Warrior was awesome! It came as such an awesome twist midway through the game, and really had some neat features to accompany it.

  • I loved the little "Finishing/Kill Moves" that were sometimes performed after dispatching a foe. Something about watching my character jumping on a dragon to go for the kill, or piggy back riding an ogre to finish them off really added to the whole expierence...

  • I've said it once, and I'll say it again... QUICK SWAP WEAPONS!

  • I feel a much stronger connection to the characters in Origins than in Inquisition.. I really enjoyed having the camp fire to sit around and shoot the **** with my peoples at.. I know that you can technically do that in Inquisition, but something about the camp fire scene just feels right!

  • I missed my dog...

Pound for pound I prefer Inquisition's cast, actually. Atmospherically the campfire setup is pretty unrivaled, though, but... I can totally see why it isn't in Inquisition. Having that on top of the castle would be hell on resources.

I connect more with DAO's cast. Maybe it's all the exploring I do. Maybe it's because all the members of the inquisition are present from the "start" of the game and "dilutes" the bond. I miss my Morrigan.

I thought they tried to mimick the campfire thing with the small camps you unlock in the map because of the tents but you cant rlly talk to your team so its just a homage in my book.

I miss origins' companions too but this game has some good stuff as well better than da2 at least.

When I first played the "setup camp" mission in the Hinterlands, I thought the camp area was going to have some type of significance like that.. I was whole heartedly dissapointed when I saw that it was just another travel point on the map.

I think they need to pull their head out of their ars!

They are one of THE most talented and one of THE best development teams when it comes to Party-based-RPG's and storytelling (AAA ones) out there! But when it comes to "follow-through" and to "surrounding themselves with the right people" and or "commiting to the neccessary development conditions" - or to put it blunt: "to do what it takes and stand up for what they believe in" infront of their publishers, they are an enigmatic bunch at best!

I love their games, when they pull it off... But when they let themselves be put in a bad place without any real reason ????!?!?!?! I guess I am really unfair to Bioware when I say this, especially because only they know how much or how little they fight for the important things, like development time and so on. But I see THEIR RESULTS pretty clearly on my monitor ... so ... I don't know!

They really have to work on that!

They wouldn't understand what Origins was about, let's face it, if they did then we wouldn't have this load of tripe.  We would be deeply engrossed in Origins 2.

Besides, I think it's quite obvious now that none of them own a PC.  They are all console jockey's.

Of course they would!!! They could easily pull that of! Why do you think any of us is writing in these forums here? EVERYONE in this forums, at least that's my opinion, is kind of waiting for them to DO IT AGAIN! - so to speak  ... ...

If we did not believe them to be able to do that, nobody would have the hope that they WILL DO IT  AGAIN!

The thing is, that they are kind of on a wild goose chase here. They were send off by their publishers:

"TO FIND THE PROMISED LAND!"

And none of us fans knows when they will be back!? But we are expecting them to return home any day now ...

... FOR THE LAST FIVE YEARS IN A ROW NOW  ...

Well granted that is a bit odd, I give you that, but what can I tell you - WE NEED THEM!!! ;)

So take from that what you will...

I did the very same thing... I replayed Origins this week, hoping for a patch to come out to address some of the "low-hanging fruit" in the current build of DA:I.

And after playing Origins, Inquisition still appears to be an extremely polished and playable game, with several obvious and seemingly easy to fix issues.

I'm hoping that they take into consideration the multiple threads of "here's a list of what we want changed", because the ones I've read seem to hit the issues right on the nose.

Man ... Bioware is reading our comments for years on end in these forums! They knew all along what we wanted. And yet they did what they did here. For me, at this point: The time for waiting and hoping is OVER!! And when it comes to the IIDDEEAA  of them fixing these issues, of which there are a lot in Inquisition (granted is has it's well crafted elements too) ...

I BELIEVE IT WHEN I SEE IT!

And to me the kicker is - I play on console! And I am convinced that even if they fix some of the major combat problems and "tactical camera" issues on PC, they will leave the same issues on console pretty much untouched. Even so they are the same bloody problems!

THIS GAME DOES NNOOTT HANDLE AT ALL IN COMBAT!!! THERE IS NNOOOO DIFFERENCE ON CONSOLES HERE!!!

My best guess would be, that they will mostly be fixing the bugs and not much else. But hey, if you say we should all believe in Santa Clause, I guess I have to try, right?!

Keep dreamin' <_<

How, exactly? One tiny zone, could have basically just the same conversation options.

Or, like I proposed at some point, a campfire animation might be enough.

I would give a LOT to have been able to be a fly on the wall during the team meetings that decided on cutting some amazing features, and destroying the entire keyboard tactical setup... I really wonder if there are any BioWare staff that are reading these forums going, "I knew it, and I told the other people all along, these things were going to create some serious backlash"...

Well to any of the staff out there at BioWare who may have tried to speak up on these things, and was shot down, you are my unsung hero for at least giving a damn!

Useful... this word... Now I understand why I do disagree so much with you in every post. The forbidden word, the ultimate blasphemy from the depths of hell, you used it, now I understand you came in name of Satan to destroy the world.

Judging from streams, it appears that most Bioware devs are consolists, not PC gamers. So I doubt they will go and play Origins.

The Bioware that created DAO is not the Bioware that created DAI. The old Bioware is dead and dusted sadly.  :crying:

You read every post I make?

The camps are useful. Otherwise you'll be walking all across the map with no potion re-stocking.

Well considering you can fast travel back to your entry spot just as easy as fast traveling to any camp, this point is kind of null...

I'm going to use a phrase my mother used with me many many times growing up to simply explain how she was more knowledgeable than I, and pretty much always right... "Before you was, I was".

Afterwards perhaps. But not all places you can fast travel to.

No I don't read every post.

And you got it wrong. It is useful of course, marvelously useful. But useful is the worst thing a thing can be ever. I am all about useless things, even when I know how to make a fantastic destroying build I always make useless characters, at least compared to most or even ultimately useless. In NWN2 I am currently at level 10 with a character that is a melee fighter and does 1~3 damage and it will remain like that until she equip some gloves and even then she will still be useless and in MotB she will be less useless but still marvelously useless. Why I am doing it? Character concept, background, story goals, fit the character.

Useless = Godlike

Useful = Hell

And I will always disagree with people that like useful things, it is impossible to agree. Only people who like useles, pointless things are cool because these people have not been corrupted into accepting the rules of reality, they would rather lose than follow the rules.

Bwahaha, Yeah I feel you here.. My favorite types of characters in D&D growing up where the ones that had some SERIOUS problems going for them.. I.E. The overly strong warrior that was truly as dumb as a rock, requiring them to speak in only grunts and gestures... Now that was some seriously fun roleplay around the table... Good times.
