So do they just go lay down and die after the Well debacle?

 

Can they not at least stay around for a few minutes to tell me how to make their armor?

Pretty sure Solas convinces them to go out and help the dalish, as that was the theme of almost the entire conversation for my elven mage inquisitor. As for the armor, there are some npc's around Skyhold wearing it (they aren't ancient elves) but I haven't seen it ingame. The closest thing would be the Dalish warrior armor, schematic purchased in Hissing Wastes at the apex of the canyons.
