I'm really not a fan of all the neutral colored armors I keep getting in this game. I'm a mage, so all of my robes are made of brown leathers and such that leave something to be desired style-wise. Is there no such thing as black leather in this world?

I heard using halla leather produces whiteish colored armors. Is that pretty? Is that going to ****** off the Dalish camp?

Any other clues on producing certain colors with specific materials?

Ugh, I need similar help - crafting is nice, but I really dislike the colours of some of the materials.  It'd be nice to have a 'dye' feature so we can colour them as we would like instead of ending up with polka dots or bright yellows.

Im still confused what main attribute crafting slot that affects your glove + boot slots.
It seems that some part of the main armor, affects the coloring of all add-on armor slots for feet and hands.

For example: Adding different crafting mats in add-on slots like gloves / boots does not affect colors. The colors are added after being linked to the main armor, and they take the colors of some piece of the main armor.

That's correct.  Armor mods use the color scheme from the armor they're applied to.  The materials used in crafting the mod don't influence the color scheme.

The materials used to craft the armor itself determine the colors used.  In some cases, there may be sections of the armor that aren't influenced as that type of material isn't used (cloth on heavy armor, for example).  One way around this is masterwork components.  Masterwork components override the color of the material used in crafting.  So, if you really don't want bright pink platemail, you might use Fadetouched Obsidian as your MW crafting component to change the color to black.  You can also use MW components to modify a material type not used in crafting (such as the cloth on heavy armor).

Yes, it does require a bit of luck in finding the components, but it does allow you a bit more control over your color scheme.  The nice thing is that generally (at least for the primary component) there are multiple materials for each tier, giving you some variety in color without messing with stats at all.  You might end up with less flexibility with the secondary components as they frequently grant useful stats, but maybe not in the color you want.  Thus continues the age old battle of form versus function.

As to black armor, Obsidian for metal, Great Bear Hide for leather, Darkened Samite for cloth.  Enjoy.

August Ram leather gives a dark blue. If you want white dragon scales makes white leather. Great Bear Hide gives black. Dragonling scales gives dark red. Gurgut webbing or Varghest scales gives forest green. There are cloths that give almost any color you want. There are several shades of blue and gray, a few reds, a couple of yellows, and some whites.

You can find Great Bears in Emprise Du Lion and Emerald Graves.

P.S Though you can't color all you cloth\leather pices in black, grey(a bit greenish) pants can't be colored and that is lame because pants color didn't match to the rest of the colors.

Some leg pieces will cover most of that though. I use the Sturdy Battlemage Armor with the matching arms and legs. The legs cover all but the top bit of the pants, and will take on the color of the leather that gives the jacket color.

Same as I, but still I don't like how it look on my Warrior(battle master armor), wish we could color pants and shirt(warrior battlemaster)...

That and the fact you may like the color of a lesser mat but it gives crappy stats while the high tier stuff gives greater stats but looks like poo  :(

It looks like Bioware is using some color palette shifting in her game. Cassandra's battlemaster armor looks Cream in Hinterlands, Golden in Emerald Graves and Silver in Emprise Du Lion. Same armor and 3 different color paletts.
