With a good group of players, threatening grinds come out with the best Gold:Time ratio :)

Honestly, gold:time ratio, perilous matches that didn't even end with the boss dead/finished, got me more gold overall. I was basically swimming in it. I only play PuGs too.

Pretty important to have an arcane warrior and a keeper on those though.

Due to the design of the MP loot system, the lead designer/design team should be tied to a chair and handed 6 pair of dice.  If he can roll 6 - 1's then he gets to go free (a unique drop). If the combined total of the dice is between 7-15, nothing happens and he can roll again (a usable rare drop), and every time he rolls a number higher than 15 he gets beaten with soap in a sock Full Metal Jacket style.

And that is still MUCH better odds that he has given us...

Ive spent 231k, all on large chests. I have 2 purple unique lvl 20+ weapons. I have gotten 6 purple unique lvl 20 accessories. Unfortunately, ive gotten the same unique amulet 3 times, which makes 2 of them worthless. To make it worse, it only broke down to a single piece of iron. Just go ahead and kick me in the nuts while you are at it.

I'm trying my best to ignore the obvious fact that it highly mathematical probable that i can play this game forever and NEVER get the item i want. I can forever get duplicates.

We should be given the opportunity to buy whatever item you want at the store with 50k to 100k in game gold only. Allow us to grind for the item we want.

Or make the unique weapons craftable.

But you must DO SOMETHING.

The weekend before release, one of the devs on twitch said that there would be weekend events and the reward could be a weapon crafting schematic. Well..?

I've had terrible luck with perilous, most of my pugs don't even make it to the last boss. I've only ever completed it once with 4 keepers (slow) but fun nonetheless.

Haha, I've always joked that 4 keepers are damn immortal, but I never saw that in action :)

Glad that someone confirmed :P

The RNG seems too RNG to the point of deterring people from spending real cash on chests. I'd love to support the game but dumping real money on large chests in the current model is just basically like donating money. Even if there were a "1 guaranteed rare and 4 common chest" chances are that rare would be a low lvl item and a waste of cash. The Store chests need to seriously be reevaluated.

I'm not sure... first of all it doesnt take that much time to gather up gold for a large chest. Also I don't like the idea of unique weapons becoming less unique. Game is no fun if everyone has all the good weapons. That will get boring quite quickly. Good items shouldnt come easy, that will ruin the fun of the game imo.

I do not think all items should be craftable, like the uniques, but a possiblity where you can craft either a grey or blue weapon that is almost as good, but not quite.

I don't think unique weapons are the problem. The fact that the loot does not scale with your character levels is the real issue. Despite having prestige'd my keeper the best staff I've gotten - which I had to place a spirit rune into - is 71 DPS and level 11 or something. Same for most characters. It's a cheap way to make multiplayer harder, by deliberately ensuring characters are using trash-tier stuff. I don't think I've even had a single amulet drop yet. It's pretty borked.

I'd also say that items shouldn't just be gotten from store / in-game chests. But that's another discussion for another thread.

I think the actuall pool of items might be very small. Because those are not 100% random at all. Seems like everyone is running with the exact same items nowadays (or still with white crap). Not much in between. The polarity makes it look funny. Either you do nothing or suddenly kill whole rooms solo.

I'd just like to add my 2cents to this discussion.

I came late to ME3MP and fell in love with it but I was already 8+ months behind everyone in terms of manifests, so buying some bioware points with real money was a good way for me to close that gap a little by little.

It worked, I was happy and BiowarEA made some extra money, so I assume they were happy.

I was in on the ground floor for DAMP as I didn't want to miss a thing like I did for ME3MP and my original plan was to spend maybe £10 - £15 a week on platinum as I have more disposable income than time at the moment and that would keep me up to date with the good folks playing DAMP.

So far though, i've spent nothing and as it is, I don't plan on spending anything either. The system is just too RNG for me. I'm not a gambling man, I want something for something, not a slim chance of getting something that may be useful but probably not.

Exactly this. I dont mind spending money on games, but DAMP is just waaaay to RNG for my tastes. They really just need to redo the chests, or throw in the specific chests like ME3 had. ME3's MP chest system is/was infinitely better then DAMP's chests are currently.

Yo yo yo medallian chiming in.... so I read most of your posts and as a ranked top 5 player with over 850 hours played and we'll over a million gold earned i'v come to ...tell you what I ha e observed over my vast time in the game so far.... yes the loot is completly random and bio straight said from day one that buying chests with money will give you zero advantage ..... soooo yeah you waste your money ..it's just a time saver...a really really expensive one ....so how do you get better loot.!?!?! Easy...completing challanges actually increases your chances of getting better loot... if you want better runes complete the elemental challanges completing all the fire challanges and you will see a marked increase in superb fire runes ...it is like this for all runes soon you will have more purple runes then you know what to do with...if your looking for a specific weapon try completing your weapon challanges it will give you a marked increase in quality of that spacious weapon you completed the challanges for. .. same with armor upgrades play a spacific class to 100 or 250 operations completed and you will see a huge diffrance....but still you will only increase your chance ..it is still very random..I don't even have all the good weapons and I have friends that play less and have more then me...but still don't lose hope you still will get desent weapons over time..and it's all about team work and class combinations...so desent weapons work find ...and no as you get into advance play it won't become about high dps but more so about weapon abilities and interactions with your teams...so don't worry and keep on grinding ^^

Yeah there's no confirmation about any of the things Medallian mentioned. It's all superstition or myth. RNG is RNG.

P2W works, but Pay to Lose doesn't. In this game, you can pay for a very good chance at getting nothing. I really recommend bioware consider sellinf cosmetics for income if they can't get a good loot system like in ME3MP that's actually worth paying money for.

I spent $150 EASY on Assassins creed for new outfits before I stopped playing

Complete BS, as others stated.

Game is too hollow to keep grinding btw, not to mention cash-spending. It's de-populated greately already.

Soon it will be dead. Not much is happening to keep it alive in the first place... Looks like it will not repeat the (surprising) success of Mass Effect 3. But than again, a lot less effort is beeing put into it, surprisingly...

Where have I heard this song and dance before... It seems familiar... It's almost like I've seen it on the forum of every game I've ever played and still play... None of which are dead...

I seriously hope no one spends money on the multiplayer in this game.

You can argue that if no one spends money on multiplayer that EA / Bioware will not continue to support it. And that you choose to spend money in support of the game so that they can continue to release more content or whatever. BS. If no one spent money on microtransistions then this multiplayer with microtransitions pay model would not have existed.

Even though I find the multiplayer pretty fun. The multiplayer is a cash grab. They know there are a lot of people out there that will dump tons of money into these bs microtransitions. Madden made $150 million in sales and another $50 million in microtransitions. There was a source on this from EA, But i forget where i read it from.

Imagine if instead of obtaining loot from chests from a store where you can pay real money to obtain them, we were rewarded for ACTUALLY DEFEATING THE DUNGEONS.

The multiplayer could have been so much better if we were rewarded for playing the game instead of going to shop and using currencies to obtain items.

They could have easily made the dungeon bosses drop loot with a chance for good items. The class specific doors could have held mini bosses with chance for blue items. I mean in most groups 1 person opens the door and the rest continue to run away through the map and not even care about those doors once they are unlocked. The final bosses could have had chances for blue or purple. I don't care how small the chance, but actually playing the dungeon to get loot would have been way better than paying for loot through a shop using currencies. We rush through the dungeons and go straight to shop to purchase chests. Way to take the enjoyment of actually runnig dungeons away.

Microtransitions are seriously ruining the quality of content we get from games these days. But people keep feeding this bs pay model. Gamers pretty much shot themselves in the foot. Companies are making so much money from this it's disturbing. No need for them to put out quality when people will just hand over money for quick shallow rewards.

Expansion packs with quality content I would pay for. But centering gameplay around microtransitions is Bullsh..

I like the idea of bosses dropping item loot for players, iGHOSTu.  It would make playing the game a bit more fun instead of the store being the "fun" part.

I'd actually like to know what the intent of Bioware is for MP. Not some nebulous bunch of ******-words about long term gaming dreams but specific and approved goals.

What do they want the loot system to be?

What types of content expansion will their be

....

Is there a specified team working on MP and for how long?

Currently, there is very little to hold people to the game and the loot is a key component of that. There is no sense of growth or progression - only random chance and frustration.

People love the MP style of play and will tire of it if no new maps or operations release. The loot issues will amplify the frustration/boredom and see players walk.

Come on, nothing will change. There's no cash in it. Everyone I know (myself included) got bored and stopped playing MP. Some people get it late, give it a month or two and it's dead. Well, that is my opinion at least. It worked really well in Mass Effect 3, but somehow I don't see anyone playing DA on my Origin F. list.

To tell the truth, just fixing the bugs (initially, it's kinda late for that now) would have extended it's lifespan. Fixing the most irritating stuff? Hah, no chance in hell for that to happen.

Perhaps :). I'd be happy enough if I could find a decent coop game of similar style to play with friends. This has a lot of potential.

Might head back to ME3MP or more Last Stand with DoW :).

When it comes to arena based coop, I think ME3 is still the best choice I guess :)

For coop games in general, (including coop arena) you might try Resident Evil 6, RE5.

Lord of the Rings: War in The North is fantasy based coop game.

Dying Light just came up as well, supposedly a very good game. I'll get my copy on monday, since I got retail preorder that came with more bonuses than Steam :(

So I made a quick video about my loot. I played around 100 hours, mostly on Threatening, sometimes on Perilous. I've prestiged a couple of times and I have bought

no platinum whatsoever (neither will I, 60 euros for a game is more than enough in my opinion). I still don't have one of those crazy bows with tripple shot or very fast

attack speed but I'm doing ok for the rest of the classes.

I can solo perilous with the Elementalist and sometimes with the Assassin if I don't slip and get One-Shotted.

I usually buy around 5-10 Large Chests at once and I ALWAYS get at least one decent unique item from them. Not the best of the best items but they do their job just fine... (I do want of those crazy bows tho').

Only 250k Gold in 2x 120k series. Not much in terms of anything else (Got me the Mindchill last time and now Pyre of the Forgotten as staff), with STILL no superb Heal on Kill rings or cooldown amulets (lucky got me needed 30% duration / dmg to some used skills and +10% crit chance +20% crit dmg superb rings, so not all was lost). Rest some nothing out of the norm purples / blues. Also, was EXTREMELY lucky to manage to pair the Wicked Grace, so while not really best in slot on all my toons, they are decently geared - all with 250k Gold so far.

Worth to note that I AM NOT a lucky fellow.
