Yea, another person finished but did no side quests that may be a clue.  I thought I was finally doing OK (stable video) almost at 20 and just a few quests to finish and then crash, bang, boom - and that is how I discovered the errors in the autosave and even saves slowly propagate errors and the links to open ended quests.  I had about 6 open ended quests when it failed from plain ole mechanics.  Had to go all the way back to Haven before I found a stable save and I also found the keep was wrong, so restart.

Someone asked me to duplicate a bug for them at that point so I restarted duplicated that bug and could not recover.

Let's just call it the "West road Bug"  I'd like the entire quest removed after dealing with that bug!  I deleted the entire game, as I could not track the cause/trigger to any unique event. Probably won't play for many hours.

People have asked me to mod things -its too unstable to even attempt any mods just yet.  However, while its reloading I might take a look at some of the DLC data structures.

Thanks

DLC is still loading... Its funny -odd that I may have done every quest up to Haven's demise dozens of times now and never saw the "west road bug" -never!  I was simply helping some folks get the game working and one of them found it.  It's definitely a sequence of events trigger, but how it craps up the game -clueless!

Reminds me of spawning heavy weapons at the end of ME3 to aggravate the reapers -that will not break the game, but game play becomes very difficult.  So I could "mod" mass effect to do strange things -here someone just found a massive bug that essentially breaks the game.

One of you mentioned the locked out controls -if not a combat issue its likely the script editor being so slow.

On the other hand, difficulty with selecting menu items appears to be a scanning issue.  Many folks have to run their mouse software in the background to stabilize the cursor and that goes back to directx issues (not your computer).  When it is misbehaving look at the bottom of the screen and if it's flashing phantom key/button/mouse presses, it should clear up by itself if its just very slow scanning - if not, might be a good time to stop and reload the game.

There is a lot of stuff to find to order fix skyhold and no markers, so finding them may be the core issue.  However, keep in mind that the garden upgrades may bug out if you use a requisition table instead of the garden courtyard tool.

Hey, Dragonkill

And one way to actually fix these "squishy" floor issues is to have the loot bags move when they are dropped instead of remaining in a fixed location from the startpoint to endpoint.  If it falls in snow, have it slide a couple inches and stop.  If it lands in water, let the darn thing float.  I bet it won't stay stuck then.  Or will it?  Hmmmmm.....vetty interesting....  honestly I don't know it just seemed like it might work.  If they're getting stuck maybe it's because they're not moving. :P  lol

The dev guys added a loot rebound, but it has some issues first its unreliable, second some cut scenes may pull your character out to position and unable to reach the loot that was literally stacked at your feet.  Rebound to my pocket would be an improvement.

Good points for the developer to consider Dragonkill.  Buoyancy might be the word you're looking for in many cases.

Here is the issue -I'm sure you've seen a creature "stuck" at some point and how difficult it is to target them in some cases.  The why is in the boundary issues, the game knows how to deal with right or left of the fence, but not on the fence, so to speak.  On the floor you have a multilayer window on the object that provides special effects, but where is the fence?  Where is the object in relation to the fence and where are the absolute boundaries?  This is where the game engine makes a bad choice putting the object on the opposite side of the fence, but above the absolute boundary, so you see it, but can not reach it.

Your suggestions would help ensure the items are on the correct side of the fence if nothing else.

There must also be a recursive routine to find these errors that seem to fix themselves, don't know why it seems unreliable, but obviously the questions are more difficult in some situations.  Then again this auto correct function likely corrects objects and items continuously and we don't see most of them, nor should we.  Its pretty spiffy technology to have such dynamic small flexible surface barrier effects.  I had to stop and just, well marvel at the beauty of it in some areas.

Guys, one thing:

Everything that is broken on PC is broken on console too! Apart from that your right - "Diamonds in a puddle of poop!"

I played every DA and ME game on console without any problems regarding tactics and so on. But this title and its new camera and combat mechanics are so bad...

I can assure you it is not PC exclusive what you experience here. Playing Inquisition on consoles is the worst gaming experience I have ever had in my lifetime. I stopped after 11 hours of my second playthrough. That was two days ago and my wrist still hurts from holding down that attack button!

And Bioware will maybe fix things for you PC guys, but we consumers on consoles, who are just as much fans of the series, who pay for their every copy, who do not get the benefit of mods, we who finance this hole shebang, we get screwed over the most!

So do me a favor stop telling us console guys you have it hard. Our gaming experience is gimped as much as yours. But compared to your access to mods we have to finance your game thefts and sit this out while EA is laughing their ass of!

I am saying all this, because I am convinced that Bioware will do NOTHING - NOTHING!

At least not for the console buyers. And for you on the PC end of things they will fix some bugs yeah and maybe better the controls a bit. But I am convinced that they will not satisfy your needs and fix everything up. They will play stupid and try to talk their way out of it like EA tells them to. You'll see!

And by the way:

Most people who play on console OWN A GAMING PC ASWELL but play on console out of choice of comfort and not because of lack of experience or expertise or only PC players are "core gamers" or only PC gamers like "complexity and precision". These things are present on console aswell. Even without your "PC gamer blessing" / acknowledgment ...

If a company fucks up things on the PC side of things, you can be damn well sure they fucked up a hole lot on the console side aswell! Consoles are not bad gaming devices and the fact that consoles exist is the very reason that most of the games are available today!

Anyways, I wish you guys all the luck in the world for future patches ....

Have fun!

If or when modders decide to start on Inquisition and I see no major issues other than - why bother yet.   The last tool I used had a DLC function to build console compatible DLC copies, so if modders take a go at Inquisition and we keep that strategy the PC users may still be first to use a mod and could pass it on to you.  Of course some mods will use the PC's power base specifically and if the mod is over heating SLI video boards, it's not for console. You may not want to be the first to try a new mod anyway, as all are not created equal and you may still have to request the option.

Good luck

I understand that many of you are frustrated, so am I after my 3rd installation, but one was a test that went very bad and doesn't count.

The truth is that Bioware has made changes and some tactics changes have been added -the desire to fix inquisition exists -we must try and be constructive!

Origin may have slipped them in w/o your knowledge, but Bioware tactics had a discussion group in one of these forums and DID make changes.  Loot rebound was one suggestion to help with the difficulty picking up items, some of the other changes were much more challenging to implement - it was a good discussion despite the poor media.  Most of the tactics issues require a significant rewrite to remove tactics activation from the mouse, add additional keybinds and mouse and controller binds, and include some dragon age and dragon age 2 functionality that is missing.  I'm not sure how all that fits the timeline or what they will keep, but neither were they.  So we discussed priority: now vs. TBD.  That implies a bigger set of changes are on the way. There are also the video driver issues that Bioware is still working for all those having black screens and the like, there is even a list of quests to avoid - all evidence of vested interest!

Bioware does not control directx development, but if they find a hook to leverage any changes they will!
