No, your just not aware how broken the system was. DAI has a quarter the number of bugs, at most.

 

I'm reciting what you can read for yourself in Combat Tweaks mod for dragon age. The sheer amount of fixes they did is ridiculous. It turns out like half the skills in DAI didn't work properly in some way or another.

The biggest issues include rogue abilities not adding backstab damage, so autoattack was more effective then using abilities for a rogue. Two-handers had a skill that did bonus damage to contructs which did nothing at all. Two-handers had a skill that sundered on hit which only worked for crits. Shields were checked as weapons for shield bash, but their base damage was 1.

 

This was all in the final game too. not the final release. Its just that the way combat worked it was harder to notice how few things actually worked as advertised.

 

But i don't remember DA2 to be so much bugged.

I could do all the combos without any problem

I did a search and couldn't find this specifically.

Does Rock Armor not show as an effect? Like a regen potion or other effects above the activities map?

I don't know what bugs it had. I imagine the worst of them carried over, such as abilities not proccing enchantments and rogue abilities not gaining flank damage. It doesn't really matter since that game could be immaculate, completely bug-free, and still by far be the worst of the series.

well...i liked it

it just had 3 big problems:

1) Locations 

2) Enemies respawn

3) Companion's customization (armor)

I liked the fights (combos much better than DAI) and the story

I'm glad you liked it. Saying its the worst in the series doesn't mean its bad. I think the worst thing about dragon age II was that it was really just a reskin of origins. I think the same bugs they never fixed in the final version of origins carried over, though I don't know if the new abilities had any bugs. In those games it was harder to tell if something didn't work, like the two-handers sunder ability. I could play that game through as a two-hander and never notice that the ability doesn't work at all. I only know it doesn't because I read it in the mods that fixed it.

Thanks for this topic and every one who contributed to it it helped me out a lot after finding out that Rogue stuff like Deathblow didn't work correctly during combat.

Going to add myself to the number of people who have encountered many of these combat bugs, particularly Immolate not detonating combos.  I've also had the same bug with Spirit Blade where it will no longer chain cast from holding down the key immediately after casting another spell.  Playing on PC. 

 

This has been very disappointing to see, though I suppose I shouldn't be surprised given Bioware's long history of not fixing combat bugs in their Dragon Age series.  I remember how shocked I was to find out how many stats in Origins just flat out didn't work without mods, even years after release.  Here's hoping they make some serious steps to address these in Patch 3, or at least provide some feedback that they are aware of them and are working on fixes.  As a former QA tester, I can't see how many of these issues could possibly have gone unreported.  Which makes me believe they were deemed shippable/patchable considering how easy they are to reproduce.

 

At the very least, Bioware, please address the Combo bugs.  It's clearly meant to be a major feature of the combat, it should work as advertised.

Yes at least combos should be fixed.

Does increased focus gain from masterworks like dales laden wool also not work?

What about additional focus per x enemy within y meters?

Another issue I noticed last night while watching my wife play her Rift Mage.  Pull of the Abyss seems to have a bug where, occasionally, when the spell effect ends it will teleport enemies caught within it directly to the player.  She demonstrated the issue several times for me.  She was using a combo of Pull of the Abyss then placing a Fire Mine in the center of the pull.  I'm not sure if this bug occurs strictly due to Pull of the Abyss, or a combination of Pull + Fire Mine.  As you can imagine, this was a bit of a problem for a long range mage having the enemies she was attempting to CC end up directly in her face.

IMO we should also add bugged masterworks. 

I will begin:
- Golden Halla masterwork should provide sneak when not attacking inside combat but it instead gives 10% chance to cast Fade Cloak on hit.
- Fade Touched Halla masterwork should have a variation that provide the same effect (sneak when in combat if not attacking) but it instead gives +15 stamina (the tooltip, as in the above case, is correct but when you use the masterwork the effect changes).
- Fade Touched Nevarite should have a variation that casts Pull of The Abyss on hit but nobody has been able to find it. Probably bugged.
- Fade Touched Silverite gives +10% chance to cast Chain Lightning but the effect does 0 damage.

From my testing all the chain lightning procs on gear are bugged. They do 0 damage, but apply shock correctly. Still useful for deep sleep combo with weaken (can put it on a warrior with high crit % for example) but obviously not working as advertised.

I've never been able to make revival work from tactical view. Over the shoulder, yes. Other people - 2 who I have seen on the forum - seem to have the same issue.

Can target the spell but not cast it. (I may be doing something wrong.)

I used to be able to, like any AoE. But recently I also can't get it to work from tac-cam. I aim, confirm, exit tac cam and nothing happens.

Yeah, that's a quite well known glitch. It happens mostly with enemies that have a large radius as they don't fit properly the center of the AOE and hence in the end they get teleported to you.

You can notice easily when this is going to happen by looking at the enemies while PoTA is active: they will sort of "go back and forth" between the limits of the circle, not finding a place.

EDIT: Yup its bugged, so atm a 2h warrior needs to be a templar to do any detonations as he cannot even do a simple basic detonation. They really need to fix this as this is screwing over 2 handed warriors badly.

Can anyone confirm that any of the Mastercraft items that give additonal focus or the the belts of focus do not work properly.  Supposedly these are bugged, like the superb belt of focus, and give no gain to focus generation at all.

Focus gain is just janky. You can be hitting stuff for a minute and the bar never moves.

Another one, don't know if it's been mentioned: rogue stamina regain passives don't work properly with archery. I've never been able to get stamina back with Long Shot and Full Draw.

Be specific.

Stamina regen on crit works just fine.

Stamina regen on kill does not work, if certain abilities result in the kill.

It works with archery just fine in general.

It doesn't work with long shot and full draw.

 

Is that all right?

Dance of death passive (stamina on kill) does not work with some abilities. It definitely works with auto attacks, but not with all.
