Been enjoying the game so far, but I feel like we are missing some memorable music

Now first, I am barely level 13, and am still stomping around the exalted marches, so there is plenty more game left to see.  But so far, with the exception of a few bard songs, there has not been a memorable theme with catchy hooks in it.

For examples, I'll go back to the gold standard bgII, which turned out an absolutely enormous amount of great themes.

Saradush

TOB theme

abizals lair

original theme

This is not just some ambiance music, it is strong enough to be listened to on its own.  So does DA:I have themes this strong that I've just missed?  If not, something to consider crafting.  I have no idea how difficult something like composing is, it seems impossible difficult, coming up with a great theme with great musical hooks, but when it is done, it is a beautiful thing.

like this theme that was never listed, but came on right when you first encountered viconia

I cant play audio right now so I can't hear your definition of memorable music, but I think both the Redcliffe theme (albeit very short and not necessarily something you would listen to on it's own, but I would and have) and the music that plays

Spoiler

were both very memorable. Seriously I had the latter stuck in my head for days. There's also the main menu bit, but I don't think that counts in this context. Do you think both of my examples count or am I misunderstanding this topic, because I'm not quite sure what you mean.

The main theme for DAI is great, some tracks here and there too, the sound is more cinematic now.

But I get what you mean, it's only one track, while DAO/BG had plenty, not to mention DAO has the best theme in the series:

This song should be remixed/played more during Grey Warden/Darkspawn encounters.

The reason your missing music is, because alot of the audio in this game is bugged. Every zone has few background music, cities like Val Royeaux has a background music that never stops playing. Sadly they are bugged, so alot of players think that there is no music or that there is a lack of them.

I feel bad for Trevor, all that hard work and a bug ruined it for him and us.

Yeah, I have almost no music anywhere, certainly none in Val Royeaux. Sometimes I'll get it for a short stanza and then it vanishes again. This has been linked to the banter bug as well, so be aware. Banter is supposed to be fairly common, if you're only getting a few, especially if you're getting only the end of some of them, or repeated ones, you've got it.

However, I've listened to the soundtrack on Spotify and I'm impressed, especially with The Dawn Will Come. Absolutely beautiful. The bard songs are also very good.

I agree the music has been a big negative for me.  The game is way too quiet.  I hate wandering around for hours and there is nothing but silence.  I don't know if it's how they intended it to be, or if some places are bugged, but I expected a little more ambient sound and music in certain places.

I'm loving the music, myself. The main theme is bloody haunting, particularly once you progress the story a bit and get to an awesome point.

Oh, and the bard songs are great. :)

Well then, we have something great to look forward to. :)

Though I do still hear music fairly regularly.

As someone not dealing with an audio bug, let me assure you that the music is utterly fantastic.

I feel like I'm missing out on a lot of music and banter to this bug.  I really wish they would hurry and fix it.

The music feels cool enough, but I don't think it's well implemented. Also, some of the tracks are very repetitive. I mean, they sound great the first two times, but they get old very quick.

Maybe the next patch can make the music occur more frequently?

I'm not a fan of Morris' sound track.  I only kinda liked a few of the tracks I've heard.  When music from DA2 played in the game (don't want to spoil the scene) it sounded so beautiful and made me realize how much weaker the new composer was.

The soundtrack is very bland and uninspired, only theme you'll remember is the main one, and that one isn't really that strong. It's pretty standard modern scoring with taiko drums and staccato string beds, which at this point has been done to death. Except for some ethnic intruments, the "sound" of the soundtrack doesn't even fit the universe it was written for imo. To my ears it sounds like it was composed by someone who isn't classically trained and doesn't really have a grasp of orchestration, like a lot younger composers unfortunatly.

Bring back Inon Zur and pair him up with Howard Drossin like they did for Throne of Bhaal.

I'd have to disagree with you, the song that Mother Giselle and the peasants/soldiers sing after you beat Corypheus is amazing. It gave me CHILLS, and was reminiscent of Leliana's song when she sang in camp.

Also the music that plays on your journey to SkyHold is INCREDIBLE! I can't think of any scene from any media that gave me chills like this one did.

I would love for the 'live' music to be separate from the cutscene music.

As a rule I always turn music off as I don't like wandering around a game trying to hear the sounds of battles in the distance and birds singing with someone banging drums loudly in my ear, doubly so if I go into combat.  This usually is not a problem come time for the cinematics, que dramatic longing melody as hero stands majestic on mountain top wind flapping heroic hair.

Imagine my surprise to find turning music off turns all music off, including all cutscenes. Nothing looks and sounds quite as silly as what is suppose to be a moving/angsty/romantic moment accompanied by just the live action sounds.

I guess you missed the part where it says no spoilers..

Anyway, i also have a bug, and so far i haven't heard any music besides the theme that goes throuout the game. Also the bard is amazing! Sadly, she would also bug out on me sometimes. =\

You really think, in a single-player RPG where you play the hero, that the hero defeats the villain is a spoiler?

Seriously?
