It's not even close to equal when it comes to consoles(where the majority of Bioware's games are sold). You only get close to parity if you include smartphones and casual games.

What studies? What did they classify as an RPG?
The Entertainment Software Association does national demographics studies annually and has since 1997. http://www.theesa.co..._EF_2014.pdf. According to them 48% of all gamers are women, though that includes a variety of casual games.
The demographics research company SuperData research is the one that broke it down by genres. Women are actually 50% of PC gamers and slightly less than 50% of console gamers. They are 53% of RPG gamers, but only 34% of first person shooter gamers. Here is the actual article. http://www.pcgamer.c...utnumber-males/
Yeah, Bioware's never going to bow down to random forum begging, even if there's a lot of it.
Oh hi, Cullen.
Well, if Cullen has boobs and works in a brothel, who am I to question his way of life?
I never said they don't give random fan service. I said that the persistence and determination people are showing while asking for pixel sex and naked supermodels in a videogame makes them look pretty desperate and is hard to take seriously.
@abaddon - It might not. I don't have any accurate statistics, after all. Neither do you.
Ever heard of "redundancy"?
I have but you were the one to make the claim, linking the number of mods with the number of male members was your logical fallacy. Even if it was done as a joke ![]()
There's a gap in this logic somewhere. "They can cater to everyone..but not you."
There is also a gap in the logic some of the people here use; straight men deserve more than everyone else or its unfair! If people would have complained that it was unfair that only straight female players got four options and that EVERYONE deserves the same amount of options then I might agree. I still think that two options for everyone (except straight females who got 4) is more than enough focus on romances for one game.

The PDF link doesn't work. The other article is Clickbait.

Okay, I admit, I should have been more specific and linked the numbers argument only to female nude high res textures and sex slave attires. ![]()

If you read the report the reason the numbers are skewed is because there's (allegedly) a much higher percentage of men playing shooter, sport and action games. I don't see what your point is here...

A vast majority of X-box and Playstion owners are male. Most of Bioware's game sales are sold on those consoles.

..and yet, Skyrim sold around ten million copies on the 360.

Ridiculous is an understatement... I'm sorry, but I can't take you seriously after this. I'm not sure if you're really as shallow as you sound, but you're missing out on a lot when you have that attitude.See, I'm not that ugly in reality and never had unattractive gf's, so since my player character is unreasonably super-attractive and is essentially the frikkin saviour of the world, I have a hard time believing that he could only get women less attractive than I can in real life. Yes, I now, this may sound ridiculous to some, but it is still somewhat of a deal-breaker for me
See the above post.

Well, you can search for the pdf if you care enough. I don't know what Clickbait is. It goes straight to the article for me, though, if you think it goes somewhere else. Don't really care if you want to read it or not.
Regardless, the point of both your article and mine is that men dominate first person shooters, which is the largest share of the "serious" games market. And also completely irrelevant, since Dragon Age isn't a first person shooter. The article I linked to also shows that 2/3 of shooter players are men, but unlike your article, it actually gives information on the genre we are discussing. Which shows that 53% of RPG players are women.

So people are buying RPG's for the X-Box but not playing them?

I don't think it would even be an issue if one of the options were..well.."conventionally attractive". You really didn't get this for DA2 because Isabela was around - not saying it didn't happen at all, but it wasn't nearly to this extent.
I just think it's weird that it's such an issue now because it's a pair of unattractive women (disclaimer: depending on viewpoint, etc, etc) when BSN was just fine jumping all over how "ugly" or "hideous" some characters were in previous games. Anyone recall Alistair or Zevran in DA2? How about the entire elf race in DA2?
..and yet, Skyrim sold around ten million copies on the 360.
360 sales are closing on 100 million. Top shooters break 20 million regularly, RPGs have had 1 game break 10 million in the last decade and they only did it by imitating sim gameplay.
RPGs make up 6 persent of the console market.

They're not buying RPGs in any great numbers, no.
Ridiculous is an understatement... I'm sorry, but I can't take you seriously after this. I'm not sure if you're really as shallow as you sound, but you're missing out on a lot when you have that attitude.
If you believe attractive men (not only by face and body, but also general intellectual appeal) (should) care little to nothing about a woman's looks, no matter how "beautiful" she may be on the inside, you are hopelessly idealistic and well, good luck in real life. Really, you will need it.

It's not an issue because the game isn't a dating sim and "equality in romance options" isn't, nor should it ever be, a part of their core gameplay experience.

So people are buying RPG's for the X-Box but not playing them?
Not sure what you think that article is proving. It just says that a quarter of all console owners are women without any further details on who is buying what kind of games. Also, while you might be right, I haven't seen any documentation that consoles are totally dominating bioware's sales.
I just think it's weird that it's such an issue now because it's a pair of unattractive women (disclaimer: depending on viewpoint, etc, etc) when BSN was just fine jumping all over how "ugly" or "hideous" some characters were in previous games. Neither of those are the same issue. Alistair and Zevran were complaints about how they looked compared to DA:O. And the elf race was a complaint about the entire race. Neither of those is someone complaining they are being discriminated against because they happen to find their romance options unattractive.
I don't think it would even be an issue if one of the options were..well.."conventionally attractive". You really didn't get this for DA2 because Isabela was around - not saying it didn't happen at all, but it wasn't nearly to this extent.

Maybe it's an issue because the rest of us don't know where the hell the other side is coming from on "unattractive." I know I don't.
If nothing else, this just proves that straight guys care just as much about romances as everyone else, despite the gaggle of straight guys who were complaining about how much attention they get from female and gay fans prior to release.
Hah, yeah. The romance options for women were kinda horrible in ME2 and ME3 (To me, at least. I admit, I only wanted Aria for my Shep
), but the whining wasn't even near this. You can't woo the pixels you want, alright. Some disappointment is not unreasonable. But c'mon people, this is ridiculous.
