Not sure what you think that article is proving. It just says that a quarter of all console owners are women without any further details on who is buying what kind of games.  Also, while you might be right, I haven't seen any documentation that consoles are totally dominating bioware's sales.

It says that even less than a quarter of women buy X-Box and Playstation. Only 10% of Playstations/X-Boxes are owned by women. The vast majority of women buy Nintendo if they buy consoles at all. The majority of Bioware's sales are on the X-Box and Playstation.

You are assuming that Dragon age sales are proportionate among Xbox and PlayStation owners. If more women were to buy Dragon age than men than your figures are irrelevant. Do you have any data to say that women buy Dragon age games in the same proportion as they buy Xbox and PlayStation consoles?

For it to be irrelevant you have to assume that  Dragon Age sales are disproportionate among X-box and Playstation owners. do you have any data to back this up?

Why would anyone play a crpg on a console? This is why the tactics became so simplified and abhorrent with newer crpg's, look at baldur's gate then look at DA:I although DA:I is no DA2 the interface is just horrendous, console "gamers" are simplifying and nerfing everything to suit the simple, one dimensional play-style of the console.

Console "gaming" just creates, buggy/laggy ports, terrible controls, dumbed down sequels (DA2) terrible interfaces, lack of support, lack of modding etc. Consoles are a horrible platform for big epic crpg's. Consoles are good for brainless shooters and button mashing fighters. Not to mention what the community itself is like, wont even go there.

Ofc of those 10% a 100% could have bought DA:I. But going purely by probability, it's really not that likely.

Other way around, pal. You are the one making the claim that this data supports your statement. Burden of proof is on you. I see a ton of women Dragon Age fans on the forums and at the Cons which is all I need to question the validity of your claim.

Yet Bioware specifically target the consoles with Dragon Age:Inquisition. Probably because a majority of it's sales come from consoles.

The vast majority of xbox owners don't play RPGs. What's your point?

A majority of Bioware's sales have come from the X-Box. It outsells both the Playstation and PC.

The RPG market is only 6% of the console market, women owning fewer Xbox's means very little regarding Bioware's potential fanbase. You are continuously failing to back up your point with any sort of reasoning whatsoever.

Are we including digital sales or just hard copy with those statistics?

Let me put it this way: do you think that 80% of the purchasers of Barbie Horse Adventures on Xbox 360 were men? It IS a console game after all.....

I was kind of disappointed by the straight male options, but only really specifically because of how limited the options are. In addition, throwing in Solas as a female romance, a race-gated option, was kind of what ticked me off as I was hoping for some race specific choices for either Dwarves or Qunari and they didn't appear. It was less the number of choices but more just how similar they seemed to me (though, I would note that that is based off of my gut feeling, I haven't seen a lot of Cassandra's stuff yet).

All that having been said, I'm wondering if it was a deliberate move on BioWare's part. Based off of stereotypes, the hypothesis could possibly be made that women are more interested in the romances on average. So, creating more choices for them would be a smart move whether or not the same amount of women and men play Dragon Age, and that *might* explain the disparity.

Not true, you have made assertions with no evidence.

I was kind of hoping that they would add DLC companions for people that really disliked the choices, but I read that wont be possible. It really is just too bad that modding wont be viable, I hope EA release a toolset.

I was in the same boat as you thinking all the choices were awful, solas ugly bald pompous elf, Blackwall boring hyper-brooding lawful good, Cullen predictable knight in boring, drab armour. But I really started to love Solas after getting to know him they did his character really well, I still find Blackwall and Cullen kinda boring and cliche', but I was happily surprised by Solas and Cass, when I play through as male human I am going to romance her. Lets just hope that a toolset is viable, because I think a lot of guys will be happier if Lel is available for a LI.

I don't need evidence to disprove your theory. You have a statement you wish to make based on no facts or reasoning, all I have to do is point out your lack of facts or reasoning.

Like I said, still waiting...

I have not made any assertions about the proportion of female DA players, at least nothing outside of anecdotal remarks that are clearly identified as such.  I'm asking why you think that Dragon Age sales for women are proportional to total console sales for women?  You claim this but don't support it.  I'm merely questioning this.  You might be right, but I've seen a lot of female DA fans, so it's made me question your statement without taking it at face value.  Again, Barbie Horse Adventures is a console game.  Are 80% of those players also men?

So.....do you have any evidence to suggest that DA sales for women are proportional to total console sales for women?

Yeah, but it's unlikely to happen. She was already a LI in DAO.

Actually I did make it on facts and reasoning.

You don't think you need facts to disprove that hetero males are the majority of consumers of Bioware games?

I'm sure that the fact that most of people that show up at Bioware events are male are irrelevant as well?
