Why do you need to complain on 'their behalf'?
Well, he doesn't; I'll do plenty of it myself.

I'm sorry, but most guys usually don't get attracted to hulkish girls with very short hair, who happen to have a I-stare-you-to-death-with-my-evil-facial-expression 100% of the time. Oh and that she happens to be a frikkin warrior tank doesn't help the cause either. Don't get me starte on the character she was given.
Romancing Cassandra was never an option. And sadly, Jospehine is a joke.
Essentially, the overwhelming majority of gamers (straight dudes) were ****ed over good by BW this time. And don't tell me it had nothing to with how the available ressources were used instead.
What BW was able to do if the get their ressource management right, we could see in BG2 and DA:O.
In Origins we had Morrigan and Leliana, in DA2 we had Isabela and Merrill, in Inquisition we have Cassandra and Josephine. I honestly don't see why you're bitching about romance's OP when this has been the one constant since the first game.

Cause Morrigan and Leliana are hot and interesting.
Cause Isabela and Merrill are hot (cute?) and interesting.
Cause Cassandra is manlier than Iron Bull and Josephine is ugly and boring.
I still cringe when I remember when Morrigan appeared on screen (still hot as hell) and when I suddenly remembered I could only romance Cassandra and Josephine. Oh, the tears I shed.
Yes, feel free to bash at me - but you asked for the reasons, and here they are, mostly. Feel free to disagree with them, of course.

Have you romanced Morrigan? Have you romanced Isabella? Have you romanced Jospehine?
If so, do those Romances and characters feel equal to you?

Why straight guys will never be taken seriously in a discussion about romance options the post.
For heaven's sake! Cassandra is a perfectly fine character, and has a pretty sweet romance story (even if you are a mage or of a different species). If she's ugly to you, it's mostly because the graphics aren't giving you your ideal woman.
For serious, why are people disappointed? It's a video game.
Wait, how is Josephine unattractive again?
Point of order: Cassandra is not in any way hulking-in fact, at times I thought she was too slender for someone who apparently carries about 100 pounds of weapons and armor on her person. If you can find me a pic of her all brawny, I'll admit I'm wrong, but I've always seen her as pretty slender-in fact, in her romance scene, she looks like a normal woman-not like a female bodybuilder at all.
This. She's skinny and has regular facial traits. I get that some people might not like her, but if she looks like a man I'm the queen of Antiva.
Wait, how is Josephine unattractive again?
The nose. It's always the nose ![]()
Wait, how is Josephine unattractive again?
For real!
That accent though... ![]()
(I think that most people who dislike Josephine cite the lack of a sex scene)

Well, I despise the lack of a sex scene, but I don't dislike Josephine for that.

Ok, yeah. We are all shallow and sexist and stuff. All right. Next.

Yeah, I also wonder why females and feminists in general are so disappointed when there are lots of hot females in games and few hot males.
I mean, they're videogames, right? Why be disappointed?

In the same way Sera is unattractive. Ok, maybe a bit less, but for sure she's not Leliana or Morrigan. Come on.

I... seriously do not understand what you speak of. I think she's about as attractive as Leliana.
Posts like these always boil down to: "I don't like my romance options, therefore <Group I Happen to Belong to> got shafted!" Never mind if others of that group come in and disagree.
Also why do people never check if these threads exist already?
Re Largest audience: I think people here quoted already the official large-sample statistics.
A while ago, I opened a thread asking for people's gender and sexual orientation.
Result was (out of 50 or so answers) that heterosexual males represent one third, heterosexual females another third, bisexuals/homosexuals also one third.
While neither that thread nor the BioWare forum claims to be representative, I find the statement that heterosexual males are the largest audience without any evidence and therefore must receive special attention is getting really tiresome.
Other than that: It's an rpg, not a dating sim or a sex game.
The more I see these discussions, the less I think they are actually about "less options/unfair" but rather "I don't like any of my options." In DA:O I found Leliana very boring but I don't think it's right to say that I got shafted by only getting Morrigan the mean and selfish swamp witch. Same in DA2, I don't really like Merril that much so I'm stuck with the irresponsible Isabella who would leave Kirkwall to burn to save her skin. This whole argument is like a bi female saying that she's being shafted because she doesn't get to romance a strong warrior female like Cassandra.

Not the point I was trying to make. If your a straight guy and you are going to complain about some thing like romance options, do it constructivly and present facts/reasons as to why they should include more and nothing more. Shitposting in a frothing rage because "hurr durr I didn't get the romance I wanted" only serves to make people dismiss you any time a serious discussion comes up.

Of course it boils down to personal preference, as usual - but I wonder why there are so many straight males disappointed this time, even more than in previous games.

..but that's what pretty much it boils down to. If someone (be it male or female, gay or straight) comes here to suggest something to improve, it most likely means that "he/she did not get what he/she wanted". It's not a secret.
I think that there are plenty of threads where straight males clearly illustrate why their available choices are not exactly fine - and most (all) the time they are just flamed back because "Omg you are wrong, shut up, you only care about the looks, you know nothing of femininity" etc.
Whatever. You can't ask for feedback only to bash at it cause "you don't get it". Of course you don't, and no one is expecting you to. But at least refrain from bashing like your self-confidence was threatened in real life.
Please note that with "you" I am not referring to "you" specifically - I am generally speaking.
Because straight females got more options than straight males, and that isn't allowed to happen.
Well, considering how vocal feminists are every time the opposite happens, I don't see why others can't be vocal as well, in this case.

Yeah, this isn't a feminist issue, and I think the people who have talked about this (because it's not just women who play female characters and want more/better/diverse love interests) might have had this bone thrown to them, because they're really vocal about being grateful for what they get, and polite in their constructive criticism when they don't like something. Just speculation.
I mean, I don't love all the options I have in the game, but it is what it is. I can ask for different options in the feedback forum, be happy about the romances I do like, and still recognize that real life feminism doesn't have anything to do with my personal preference for f/f romances with dark haired leading ladies who are aggressive and powerful. Maybe next time.

Well, that's your problem. It's bugged for at least some of us, who can't see the cutscene without having to skip through it.
While this thread has been done about a million times (and people complaining about the people who are complaining will follow every time and rehash the same "suck it up", "yeah we had to deal with it now it's your turn" and "stop having an opinion on physical attractiveness"), I almost have to wonder if the graphical shift toward non-traditional attractiveness was deliberate.
Well, considering how vocal feminists are every time the opposite happens, I don't see why others can't be vocal as well, in this case.
Because incidents in which groups that are traditionally marginalized or under-represented are instead represented equally or even over-represented are corrective of the underlying bias. The reverse is not true.
Bachelorquisitor is the way to go for a straight male Inquisitor. F*** the romances, they are shite.
