I am a drama major. There are a lot of girls im musicals.
Cassandra is manlier than most males i work with. That doesn't change by me knowing females.

It's funny how pandering to a group is only bad when you don't belong to that group.

I'm a straight white male gamer. Almost every single other game on the market (especially AAA ones) panders to me in some way or another, from The Witcher and its 20 sex cards to Call of Duty and its America **** Yeah power fantasy. At this point, it's just been accepted as the norm, even for Bioware to a degree. Then they decide to break the norm for one game and suddenly the floodgate of tears start. I am sorry, but this is really a bit pathetic.

Don't like the options? Fine, that's up to you. Perhaps gay men don't like either IB or Dorian either, and from what I've seen those who wanted to romance a lesbian are sometimes dissapointed by Sera. But please, let's not get even started on the ''biower shafted us!!'' victim train. Of all the demographics in gaming, sorry to say, us stright while male gamers are dead last in terms of having things to complan about.

Cullen was definitely fan service for woman though  :P

It kills me when people say Cassandra isn't a woman. Because she doesn't fawn over you and doesn't need you to swing a sword ? She's her own person. If you romance her and grow to enjoy it, good for you. If not, she has stuff to do. In that I can see Morrigan, who is quoted so much as the ultimate romance, and still go see to her own business at the end of DAO. Yes, Morrigan was interesting ; she is so much more than a sarcastic ******. Just like Cassandra is more than an angry armed manly wall. But then, is it Morrigan personality who compelled you to follow her romance, or her second pair of eyes ?

Now, if it's about aesthetics, Cass' is not beautiful to you. Beauty standards are not universal. I'm a woman and she is charming to me. Also, the scar ? Totally hot.

Solas, although not conventionally beautiful, turned out to be a smooth charming bald guy. I don't see people complaining that he isn't hot enough ; I used to mock him myself. But then you plays and spend some time around his banters, and he may grow on you ; that's what a personality is for ; To see beyond. You're a poor sod if you ever felt like Aveline needed to be hotter, Isabela whiter, and Joséphine bangable. It's not who they are, and they're not changing for you. Just like IRL.

Romances, although an enjoyable of BioWare games, are not everything.

Companions, although able to grow and take different directions under your counsel, are not here to be your playthings.

Misandry doesn't exist, Kleon. I'm not sure what shadows you're watching out for.

Oh I forgot heterosexual white males aren't allowed to complain about anything because we're all just privileged scum, thank you for clearing this up for me.

Thing is, this game isn't real life. The companions are part of a game, which is something you play. Making them, at least technically things that you play with. And while I agree that whining about the romance options can be frivolous, it's just no worse than complaining about other gameplay mechanics like quests, combat, etc. It's a part of the game.

Also, people aren't really saying she isn't a woman. Just that she has too many manly characteristics (which is just a turn off for many men). Just as many women would find larg facial scars hot, just as many men would find them not-so-hot.

For some reason Bioware doesnt care about realism and will always put the same amount of lgbt characters or more in your party even though the lgbt community represents roughly 3% of the world. Having a gay party member is not  a bad thing at all but Id rather it be done how it would be in real life by having them be in the minority. If they cared about their world and lore more than pandering and trying to be the champions of social justice wed have a more realistic lgbt population in thedas. We should have had a maximum of two different lgbt characters in our party at this point.

Kudos to you for pulling a make believe statistic out of your ass to try and prove a point.

Again, I'm just floored how much vitriol this seems to get. A bit of complaining? Yeah, I get that. Being bummed? Yeah, I get that. But creating multiple thread after multiple thread loudly proclaiming that Cassandra is manly and Josephine too virginal/cute/Disney-ish, whatever..what is the point?

To let everyone know how very upset you are that your LI isn't white, young, hot, hetero, and willing to have sex with you? Got it. Any chance of moving on? Or are we going to be stuck in the "anger" stage of grief for the foreseeable future?

Also this is the first time I've heard that a majority of women find facial scarring to be attractive. Why don't you tell us what else we think?

Nope it was a gallup poll thank you very much but thank you for your crude language.

Seriously what is it with BSN that just makes everyone act like jerk.

Well guess what? Elves, dwarves, and Qunari represent 0% of the population in real life so why aren't you OUTRAGED that our party doesn't reflect real world percentages of "human only"?

Why does this outrage at non-realism only extend to people's sexual orientation that does not match your own?

They're synonyms, but sure. Whatever. Where did you get this info that "many" women find facial scarring attractive? Did they do a Gallup poll on that as well?

I'm fascinated.

This is what happens when you start emphasising romance in your games Bioware, I hope you’ve learnt your lesson :P.

Now please up your exploration skills for your next game, exploration in ME1, ME2 and DA:I have all been mind-numbingly dull.[/derail]

Honestly, the male romances were shafted. I was perfectly okay with Cassandra, but Josephine really had a lack of content. While it was a little heartwarming, it almost felt like an afterthought.

I do think Bioware is shoveling on the LGBT stuff too much. Dorian's personal quest was just your basic after-school special. Why not just make interesting people? Varric was the most interesting, no romance needed.

See, I agree with this. Dorian as a LI was mostly about "Hey guys, I'm gay!!" And all the angst that came along with it. I would've preferred a gay LI who didn't have his gayness as his main story arc/personal quest.

I didn't tank it was badly done, per se. Just would've preferred an LI who happened to be gay rather than making it the center of the story.

We already have one here (see Ekliane's post) that finds scars hot. So all I need is one other woman in this whole planet that shares the same preferences and that would make it multiple women.

Which is closer to a synonym of "many" than "majority" is.

Orrr maybe you can dial the outrage down a bit and maybe try to understand what I was trying to say?

You guys are ridiculous I said a percentage from gallup poll and you guys are trying to persecute me over it. Secondly I dont like the other races in the game because they are same except for appearance and culture, thats lazy writing. They should have just all been human since there is no real difference between them. But I  guess youll want my head for not liking dwarfs either. I posted about lgbt characters because that is what this thread is geared toward. I would rather have humanity be represented realistically too bad for you, I never said there shouldnt be any gay characters. And I know youll just say fantasy blah blah blah magic.

Multiple threads because Bioware keeps locking them cause the pro-gay crowd likes to argue and post dumb ****, same as the anti-gay crowd likes to argue and post dumb ****.

If Bioware mods would do their jobs and remove the hateful antagonistic posts like real forum mods and leave the general discussion posts they wouldn't see the need to create a new thread every 10 pages.

Since release these "straight" threads attract the flames from the pro-gay crowd. People will post a dislike for straight romances and gay romances and they'll come in with the #dealwithit #acceptit, #gayisbetter crap and honestly it's making them seem like the ones who complain the most.

Represents as a community? Yes. 3% is how many, in general, will openly state in a poll that they are LGBT. Actual percentage of LGBT individuals? LOL GET OUTTA HEREEEEE. Any study worth a damn has put it as upwards of 8-10%, and I've seen reporting of high school students (Gen Z, much more LGBT friendly than even Gen Y) that admit 10-15% LGBT.

BTW there's only 3 LGBT party characters (two gay, one bi). Such a scandal.
