I miss them! They were awesome and totally added to the first 2 games. Please include them in future DLC, in their DAO/DA2 appearance. A deal with a Desire Demon themed DLC, pleaseeee! Would be awesome to see them like that in the new engine. Thanks! :D

I get the feeling that they were removed because they made women seem sexualized... there was also a lot of arguing in the past over whether or not a female demon should embody "desire" because not everyone desires that.  Whatever.  Not a huge loss, but it was noticeable.

Didn't even notice and I think Dragon Age seperates itself from other fantasy game settings with it's very well designed female characters - just think about it for a second, Two to three pivotal and active characters at the beginning of the game are female. Normally Cassandra and Leliana would be men and Josephine would be more sexualized and have more of a supporting role.

Instead, we have a game that is willing to treat the female characters like the male characters and I love that. The only way I could see desire demon working is if they had both sexualized guy and lady designs, but it's probably just easier to remove them.

Its silly if they removed the Desire Demons because of the whole SJW thing going on at the moment its a demon that embodies desires having all female characters covered up in the equivalent of a burlap sack is just as silly as the tiny non existent armor's in some games have your character dress appropriately for there roles which is something bioware has being great at for a long time that being said I do think the inclusion of a male desire demon would be fun . It just felt like something was missing in the pre-established world without them

A group of quite disgusting (and cool!) looking demons and of course the only female one is the sexy, pretty much naked one. The desire demon was awfully unoriginal so I don't personally miss it at all.

Though if Bioware would like to make female and male versions of the demon, I'd have no problem with that.

Oh, I never thought of this. Hmmm...I would love to see the male version right next to the female demon. That is just a couple of ....hotness:)

You could base them off a romance to find out what model to show the player.

No women of the night in GTA because thats so one sided-give me a break!!

The game is so streamlined when it comes to classic monsters and interesting locations

Proof that the Pedulum Theory works very well and applies to politics, religion or sex. That is, you go from one extreme and slowly swing to the other extreme.

Removal of the desire deamon is proof of that.

I wonder how the armor in the next installment of Mass Effect will be?

If they removed the desire demon because it sexualized females, then so did that skin-tight armor in Mass effect. Which should mean they should go from mass effect armor to some kind of bulky thing that doesn't show anykind of form at all, you'll even have trouble knowing what gender it is, on top of that you'll get a voice scrambler just so the female voice won't sound sexy in anyway.
The male n7 operative will be a fat man, since males with 6 pack benching everyday is stereotypical.....

I actually wouldn't mind seeing a Desire Demon take on the form of your preferred gender, flagged by romance -- so, for instance, if you're romancing Dorian, you get a male model, but if you're romancing Sera, the classic female? Since male desire demons do exist, as noted in one of Dorian's lines (he mentions having a chat with a Desire Demon and refers to it as a "he;" I'd expect it took that form for reasons that should be very obvious.)

How is "we make our demons not look like strippers" extreme?

Look at it the other way: Do you really think that anybody who is looking for an engaging, immersive gameplay with lore-appropriate graphics would say "I totally think that desire demons should look stripperific" if it hadn't been in the previous games?

Is DAI much more prudish than DAO or DA II? From what I heard about the sex scenes, that's clearly not the case.

The male/female discussion has been brought up before.

Basic statement from the devs (I think it was on Gaider's blog somewhere) was that they did not want to "waste" two animated model for one creature type. They only get a limited amount of models, and adding a male and female version would've meant cutting a model elsewhere.

To be fair the first time I saw desire demon I did pause a little and think, "hmm so they think only women are desirable...what a sexist attitude. Whatever, it's a video game so no one is gonna care. Better keep it to myself or someone will come call me a feminist."
But they did care and changed it. I'm glad.
I have no problem if they bring back the original desire demon, as long as there are also male ones. You know, with nipple piercings and everything.

As a lady myself, I never once thought anything about the desire demon beyond "She's pretty. Now I want to see a male Desire Demon."

I don't see why people would complain about sexualization. Its a DESIRE demon. Its supposed to be sexualized.

It's not the sexualization. It's the sex. I wanted to see a male desire demon as well, but the way they were presented in the story - it gave me the impression that all desire demons were female, and that was the problem. Good thing they corrected that.

Sexualization wouldn't be that much of a problem if it was fair. Bioware at least tries to avoid sexism and only female desire demons made them seem kinda hypocritical. So if they don't want to make two models for them, removing them altogether solves the problem.

Maybe there should have been a male desire demon in DA:I since we've already seen the female one :P some eye-candy for the girls for a change (and some guys too).

Desire demons actually appear as whatever the victim desires...they could make desire demons out of any female/male model and provide any setting. Such as in Dragon Age: Origins the enticed templar in the Circle Tower sees himself with his wife and children, all acted by the desire demon.

Of course the appearance has been abstracted to a female, though the voice of desire demon had the rough male demonic tone hidden under the female tone.

All the people going 'it's political correctness gone mad!' are hilarious. And I say that as someone who found their design attractive.

Personally I'd like to see a Desire Demon that doesn't have a gender. Desire doesn't mean sex, something that was established for Thedas as well, in Origins. I want to see a Desire Demon that looks a fat chest full of gold! Or a library of books! Or unlimited power! Whatever that looks like.

There's a conversation with Dorian where he talks about an encounter with a male Desire demon - so it is established there are both.

What about Imshael though?  Haven't found them yet, so I don't know if they used the model or not; but they're described as a desire demon and they are in the game...

Yes, that's why DAI is better in this matter. The previous games never mention any male desire demons, as far as I remember.

There is a massive statue of a female desire demon in the Hissing Wastes carved into the mountain...It looks great, shame we couldn't interact with an actual desire demon.
I was surprised that all the demons with the exception of Pride and Rage were fear based. And given Blinky was discussed about in the Fade I am surprised they even had Rage/Pride demons in the game. in  fact the only Pride demons I can understand being in the game where in relation with Solas's quest (his friend) and the Solas Temple with the locked away one. Those made sense but the ones just appearing out the fade rifts should in all honestly not have been there for plot reasons.

I'm of the left and even I think they've got too far left with this game, not that it made it a bad game it's just really, really, annoying.

Ishmael presents as a mage and shifts forms between pride rage and some others.

Despair demons aren't Fear based. Undead are typically hunger demons as well (they just call them undead this time around because reasons).

Solas mentions that the rifts forces creatures from the Fade out into the real world, which is not typically something demons are resistant to. Solas also mentions that perception can change how a spirit reacts to the world (so if you expect a pride demon instead of a spirit of wisdom, you get the demon).

I also miss the desire demon, but I understand why it's not present. Mechanically, it doesn't fill a roll that's not already being filled by another creature. Elements are covered by rage demon fire, pride demon electricity, and despair demon cold, and the stand back artillery caster is handled by the despair demon and to a lesser extent, the wraiths.

It is a bit weird to have ALL the major demons represented except desire.
