Meh.  I agree with the OP. just think calling for a "return" of desire demons is a bit much.  Im just disappointed at the sliding political direction Bioware is going.  This points to far bigger issues however.

I think deep down we were all ready for/ expecting this, which is why a lot of people have been turned away from Bioware titles.  BW has clearly chosen who they want to market to, which are the people that cry that if something is attractive to males (sexualized) its "misogynistic", and "problematic" to the group of individuals they wish to cater to.  Therefore, those "toxic" portrayals of femininity will be axed because some person, an individual player may feel offended for reasons... Leaving no desire demons at all for anyone to interact with.

I liked that idea that a poster above had, perhaps in a future DA title or DLC mission where there could be both male and female desire demons occasionally encountered.  It should satisfy the people demanding a more inclusive game, as well as people that can appreciate sexuality.

If there had been only a male desire demon from the start, I assure you a lot more guys would be uncomfortable about it. Women have gotten used to the needless sexualization, but that doesn't mean it should be the norm.

If Bioware has decided to be more inclusive to people who are not straight males, it's their prerogative to do so. Guys who get their feelings hurt by this decision still have plenty of other games that sexualize women, so no worries. It's a lot harder to find games that include women as a major and thus respected player base so Bioware gets my thanks.

I agree, if there was a male desire demon from the start, more guys (myself included) would have been uncomfortable, particularly if the demon made a sexual advance...  Although then it wouldn't really be a "desire" demon then would it.

The "women are more used to being sexualized" and that they "arn't respected as a player base" is a personal belief, as men are sexualized all the time, yet we seem to cope, and companies from AAA devs to indies are trying to entice females to play their games - because everyone loves money, and females increasingly play video games as a demographic.

Creating an erotic, lustful demon model fits DA:O perfectly for when it came out, so its useless to criticize BW for what they did in the past.  Instead, we should agree that now, in the future, resources and time permitting, should the BW developers as a team want desire demons, they should do both sexes.

The female desire demon had nothing to do with desire when it came to (most) women players or very serious roleplayers. The design idea itself was only working from a male perspective, thus flawed from the start. Two demons would have worked perfectly.

I have no problem with sexy characters but that sexualization needs to be fair. The amount of truly sexualized women to men is 1 to 10. A lot fall in between but you very rarely see men as sexualized as the desire demon for instance. Most men characters are not sexualized the way what women find sexy. Usually it's the way what men think women want, which rarely works.

Boom! Idea that will disgust most everyone! Make the desire demon a hermaphrodite! It's all "ooooh come here, you know you want it!" Everybody eeks and runs.

Na I'd rather have a sort of classic siren style demon that lures men to their deaths. Why women? Because they are fine! Male style Incubus? Cool! Can we get both sexes of every demon? Why are women so under represented among demons. Most media represents lust and desire demons as women because they are very sensual in form and movement . . . Hell, it's a selection pressure that has shaped the sex. Personally i think trying to downplay the differences between men and women has it's own set of pitfalls.

Rage demons dont have ****** and have broad shoulders. Pride only comes in dickless male flavor. Are they trying to say the male form is evil?

Again, na. Most of them are androgeneous. Although, male and female gluttony and pride would work as well as desire/lust.

Sounds like a DLC wish that will never come true.

Don't waste thw platform, lady. Tell those devs what you want! Describe for them what it is women are looking for in a sexualized male so they can put it in games and stop taking sexy women out of games! I dont understand why the solution is removing sexualized women rather than adding dem sexy dudes?

I demand, as a consumer, equal representation of the sexes in respects to overly sexualized characters!

Note: Iron Bull looks weird.

IIRC the demon in Emprise du Lion is a desire demon, at least Michel refers to it as such. But yeah, the desire demon as we know it from previous games is gone and I'm not that bothered. If anything it just bothers my sense of continuity, just like the "reclassified" demons.

I miss them! They were awesome and totally added to the first 2 games. Please include them in future DLC, in their DAO/DA2 appearance. A deal with a Desire Demon themed DLC, pleaseeee! Would be awesome to see them like that in the new engine. Thanks! :D

What good is a desire demon in a game where you can't negotiate with enemies?

Seriously, though, I do miss them as well. The interactions with them were a lot of fun.

Yeah it feels like something is missing without them in the game.

And in my opinion a male and female model for desire demons is warranted because of the additional interaction/conversation etc that usually comes along with them, it would be totally awesome to get a male and female model that responds to the hero's love interest gender.

Anyway I hope they bring back desire demons in future dlc with an interesting deal/story. It feels incomplete without them :-(
