I'm playing on nightmare and this is my first playthrough. Some fights on nightmare are challenging. The 2 hander allows me atm to deal critical hits of 1100+ while sword and shield only up to 660. The main issue with two hander is vulnerability.

This is annoying since two hander soaks up damage pretty fast and practically two combos and have to run/heal or die. I'm wearing armor with 160+ protection and it just feels like glass cannon. Health potions just dissapear at crazy rate. I miss DA2 charge with berserker :> Avvar leader fight was just riddiculous. One guy could take massive amounts of damage and still gloat his threats to 4 other ppl while swinging his ego oversized sword.

Looked for some warrior guides but mages and rogues are community favourite so maybe this thread becomes a bastion for warrior players.

What do you think of combining Reaver Warrior with Sword & Shileld ? Is it worth using ?

If you are playing as 2h, you need to have in mind that these type of warrior are consider as damage dealer, physical CC and sometimes as off-tank, so, even on hard you will need a s&s party member to deal with the aggro/tanking. For the same reason, you also may want 2 ranged for those 2 slots, it can be a support mage/dps mage, or a support mage/dps rogue, a good party can be:

Cass with s&s

You as 2h reaver

Dorian with spirit and necro (for the fear CC and cross-class combo with you)

Sera with bow and tempest.

As for s&s reaver, its not the best, since reaver depends a lot on be on low health and also need good pasives for stamina regen, beging the bests in the 2h tree, and also, the higger the dps of the weapon, deals best results with reaver, but you can try it and see for yourself. Maybe if you can manage to keep guard high and play with low health it can work out.

Yes I think that is the strongest Reaver build, mainly because 2H seems so awkward.

Proably skip dragon rage - although maybe you can make it work.

One thing to keep in mind is, from my experience, Rampage (Reaver focus ability) can't be activated without a 2-handed weapon equipped. So if you plan on going s&s Reaver, skip Rampage (which is in my opinion, a big downside of not using 2-handers as a Reaver).

About the need for s&s tank in the party. This is mostly true for the early-mid game on Nightmare, but when you reach higher levels (15+) when you can craft tier 3 armor and grab some of the s&s passives (they work while using a 2-hander) for mitigation, there is absolutely no need for a tank beyond yourself (2-handed Reaver). This is also partly because higher level mages provide great crowd control as well as Barrier.

I finished the game as 2-handed Reaver at level 23 on Nightmare, and the only reason I brought another warrior with me is for the banter and because I enjoyed the characters.

2 handed reaver, no 2 handed skills, get w&s passives especially turn the bolt and the final 20% frontal dr one. Guard is awesome so try to get 1 fade touched guard per hit. Upgrade your regeneration potion as that will help, it is your DPS fuel for dragons and stuff.

I recently tried 2h reaver with some w&s passives and not using dragon rage. This works well and is not as squishy as most 2h builds. You can do this also for 2H templar or 2h champion but 2h reaver is more fun in my opinion.

I will do an complete NM run with an reaver inquisitor after I'm done with my rogue. I will try 2h but mybe also resort to w&s. The missing focus skill is not an issue as inquisitor as you will use your mark instead.
