You are wrong - you get XP for dispelling rift demons (do you not see the XP bar pop up, showing you the exact gain?). No loot, though, which is an acceptable trade off - close a rift without much of a fight, preserving potions and potentially allowing you to deal with high level threats you couldn't beat, or let them come through and get loot after a much harder battle.

On Nightmare, Fade Step away and CC it w/ Frost. If you fade step, I would take the time to just disrupt the rift and aoe interrupt everything on the map.

I know how to unpause. I got the impression that Advance Time was slow motion, and I would love to be able to slow down the combat.Just pause and unpause using the Ctrl key.

My fav method to deal with the Terrors is to drop a static cage on them - esp when 2 of them are together - youll see them drop down, and the animation appear like hes about to break your legs, then you hear the BZZZZZTTT and next thing you know hes paralyzed - all i need is that to happen once and i can usually focus them down
If you have the static cage ring and the upg for it, terrors become pretty easy to deal with not to mention being a rift mage - the CCs for them are amazing and also stop the terrors from tunneling

Advance Time does the same thing, but it uses one "keystroke" instead of two.

That lack of documentation reduces everything to guesswork.
Detailed mechanical information should have been released before the game was, not hidden from us forever unless we can find a way to decrypt the game files.
I was being sarcastic, should've used italics.
The lack of a manual is enough for me to take points off the game. I still have no idea what half of the 'debuffs' do and the lack of tooltips is really annoying.

Baldur's Gate II (BioWare, 2000) manual - 266 pages, with in-depth explanations of combat mechanics and abilities:

DA:I... 16 pages of mostly fluff.
My, how the times have changed. ![]()

Where did you find the 'manual'? I have no option for it in Origin and googling gives nothing.

Here it is, but don't expect enlightenment:

Here's another way, the one I've used in my Nightmare playthrough:
If there is more than one, I CC any extras with Sera's Full Draw and/or Knockout Powder, then you can focus on one at a time. I've never encountered more than 3 terrors at once, so Sera alone can keep them CC'ed the whole time.
My inquisitor is a 2H weapon warrior who can just chain CC a single Terror forever. Chain -> AA -> Pommel Strike -> AA -> Chain -> AA ->Mighty Blow -> AA -> Chain... in fact, a single 2H weapon warrior can solo a Terror without giving it any chance to fight back. The rest of the party just adds damage to speed up the process.

To put it simply: Gain more levels aka abilities.
They become rather harmles once you have multiple knock downs and luse much of their terror. Having a Riftmage helps a lot, so does having Frostmage, Rogue with Shadow Strike etc.pp.

I guess the problem is Terrors when you are low level, and dont have many abilities.
Then, I would use:
- Fade step, to get out of the AoE pulse
- Ice mine and fire mine (upg) in your feet, to CC the terror once it goes for you
- Static Cage, to CC the terror when he tries to tunnel
I wonder of the ice wall would work...

CC and kill one at a time. Keep them CCed.

If you bring a mage with the Dispel skill, you can close the portals before they open. After the first wave, you'll see the pattern of cirles representing portals showing up as blue on your minimap. Go to the tac cam, and hit a few of them with dispel. Cass also can do this with Spell Purge once it unlocks.

Obviously before getting to Skyhold you don't have as many tactics so Fade Step is your best friend. But afterwards they shouldn't bother you much.

If you have a warrior, Charging Bull knocks them on their ass and interrupts their scream.
You archers and mages should honestly all have Leaping Shot and Fade Step. Those abilities are too useful not to have IMO.
Save Barriers for when the Terror sinks into the ground, cast it on your ranged when they do to avoid damage.
In last resort, Grappling Chain to yoink them away from your squishies.
